Watching my father die slowly from scirosis, and taking care of him pretty much cured me.

Same here except replace father with father-in-law. 2 liters of red wine per day. Its been MONTHS since I've seen the man drink anything other than red wine

A manual I read states that if you have more than 5 beers on 2 or more nights of the week, you have a drinking problem.
I call that a good start

It was very hard for me and my wife to watch my dad choose to drink over seeing his grand-daughter. It almost drives me to tears just now while typing this. His DUII last year was not enough. I don't know what to do.

I can take all the alcohol I drink in a year and carry it in a plastic, grocery store shopping bag.

I drink about a 12-pack or the equivalent in rum every week. There are a few days each year (like 4th of July, New Years, etc.) where I might over do it a bit. A few times I've quit drinking entirely for several months just because I didn't want any booze for whatever reasons.

I think I'v been drunk twice in my life. I just don't really like the taste of alcohol, and I quit doing drugs when I was 19, so none of those either heh.
When I WAS into drugs though, was as hardcore as you can get on everything except powders. |
