What causes these things?
I get some kind of open sores in my mouth alot, they are mostly just to the point of being annoying, but they do make eating some things hard. They go away faster if I use peroxide but it still takes a few days. |
for me?
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< (Avitar) ETA: take an asprin and break it, and then put it on the sore, mine are usually gone by morning when i do that. |

I never have that in my mouth. Expected that answer, but ZEN wasnt the one I was expecting it from. |

When the women on the side of the road ask you if you wanna go on a "date", say no.
LMAO at the semen comment.
Are you talking about canker sores? |
They see me and correctly assume Im either a cheap bastard or broke, so they leave me alone. |
I think so, what the hell causes them and how to get rid of them |
Try switching toothpaste, sometimes if I switch to a diffrent kind (cause I can never remember what kind I bought the last time cause they make 1244352124346125456863 diffrent kinds) I will get several sores and have to switch again.
Or you have Herpies |
Sorry Taxman, I just couldn't help myself. It was just to good of an opening. I know, ...... I know, ..... I'll smoke a turd in hell for that one. Zen "This is my turd, there are many like it, but this one smokes like moldy ass" |

Get a new toothbrush too.
crushed asprin on the sore. peroxide helps too. warm salt water gargle. |
Canker sores, etc. in your mouth are actual caused by herpes (not kidding). They'll eventually go away on their own but there are some products you can buy over the counter at pharmacies to ease the pain of them while you've got 'em.
Are you taking vitamins or other suppliments? An OD on Vitamin C can cause those sores.
Now for some real help:

No vitamins, I have had these for years. Just sitting here tonight and having it burn everytime I drink made me wonder about them, |
leukoplakia is some serious shit. i always thought is was the snuff rubbing and making lesions... it was when i found out that it was pre-cancerous leasions...thats when i decided to quit. hard habit to kick after 7 years. sorry to hi jack your thread tax. |
-Herpes.
-Cancer. -"Hand Foot Mouth" disease, yes its a real disease..not a joke. -Eating too much acidic foods/juices. -Tobacco use leesions etc...etc..etc the list goes on and it could be an indicator for other diseases, but prolly herpes. |
If you check out that link, you will find that lack of vitamins is one of the causes. It mentions nothing about herpes though. Herpes is different I think. Do you chew your nails? It could be a factor as well. If you are not taking vitamins you should be anyway. One of the causes is stress, and taking vitamins will really help you handle stress. (like when some jackass insinuates that you have had SEMEN in your mouth) Hope that helps. (really I do, but I am still going to break your hump about having semen in your mouth) Zen "This is my semen, there are many like it, but this one is, ........" (I just can't finish that one) |

Good Larrd, I'm not tellin'. People in the GUBMENT are looking for me don't ya know. "It's the cong man, ......... the're everywhere" Zen "This is my cong, there are many like it, but these ones are out to get me" |

Try getting more rest and eating right.
I guess all of the other things are possibilities, but I would try the simple fix first. You're probably just run down from poor eating habits and no sleep. BTW, it's good to see Zen starting up again. |
Probaly due to biting nails, stress or lack of vitamins it sounds like
Yet another link: http://familydoctor.org/613.xml I got one of these a couple of years ago. The first I can remember having for many years and I had been drinking a lot of orange juice (which I usually don't drink) around that time. Acid type juices can cause these. Here is the name of a medicine I bought over the counter at the time which was a big help: KANKA It both numbs the pain (which is considerable) and helps heal. Hope this helps. Zen "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine" |
I get canker sores rarely. I have one on the tip of my tongue right now. WORST spot ever to have one too, because it's constantly rubbing against your teeth and hurting like hell. I just dab on some ambesol and it numbs it for a while. They don't last long for me.
do you have regular dental check ups? sometimes sores in the mouth can come from bacterial infection of the gums like gum disease?
if they dont go away or you get them all the time they might need to do a biopsy |
Yes that's true, actually. Simplex type I if i'm not mistaken. Use some OTC stuff to treat the sores, or they may become conducive to the thrush fungus, and you will have hell trying to eat solid food for a week. |
Last dental visit was in the 90s, but I had them then too. Quess I'll look into changing toothpaste. If its due to the salt, etc in my diet I'll just have to live with them |
I asked about the nail biting because nail biting can bring all sorts of bacteria into the mouth. And canker sores seem to be a bacterial infection. I think that is also another reason why I got the one I did. But not taking vitamins or acid juice killing the good bacteria seems to make it possible for the bad bacteria to take over and infect. Costco sells a good multi vitamin. Here is what I recommend: 1. A daily multi vitamin 2. A 1000 vitamin C. 3. Some L-Lysine 4. A folic acid 5. A vitaim E supplement. 6. A good Calcium suppliment The multi will give you general stuff, and the rest will make sure you got what you need. You will feel better and have better health. Believe me. And don't believe any asshat who tells you that "vitamins dont' do you any good" It's complete new age bullshit. And for Gods sake, lay off the SEMEN! (or at least cut down on your daily intake) Zen "This is my advice, there are many like it, but this one is good" |
I am curious if the advice here helps. Could you please let us know if it worked? Zen "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine" |
I will going to be awhile though, I have to wait for current ones to go away. |
Thanks Operatorerror, It's good to be back. (except now I never get anything constructive done) Zen "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine" |
Odd, I heard that OD-ing on VitC can help them. |
Vitamin C. It works.
I had hand foot and mouth disease. Lesiions like chicken pox between my fingers and toes and so many sores in my mouth i couldn't eat. It sucked big fat donkey dick. |
I get these all the time. I have three right now.
1. It is NOT herpes. That is the sore on the outside of the mouth. 2. These are probably genetic and probably some sort of auto immune process. They are NOT contagious. It is not a virus nor bacteria. However bacteria can agravate them. 3. There are many reasons to get them. #1 cause is stress and lack of sleep. 4. There is no cure nor remedy. Some people do get better healing from peroxide, vitamins or changing food or toothpaste and mouthwash. 5. Nothing has worked for me. I still get them no matter what. 6. Doctors still really don't know what causes these or what to do about them. 7. The offical name is aphthous ulcers. |
so you TOOK V-C to get rid of that? |
Dude, ..... why would you do that? Do you live on a farm or something? And why would you talk about it? Tooooo much information! Zen "This is my humor, there aren't many like it, but this one is mine" |
One time I had a bunch of little sore in the back of my mouth. I just scraped them off with a flat-head screwdriver and went on my way. They didn't even come back.

I haven't read any of the replies...Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease? No kidding.
I was going to ask if the problem was chronic or acute, but you seemed to have answered that. It sounds like a chronic problem. So, unless there is something in your regular diet that might be responsible (allergic reaction), then it's likely genetic, a vitamin/mineral type deficiency, or a toxicity problem. A genetic problem probably can't be totally eradicated, but you may be able to control it through dietary supplements. A vitamin/mineral deficiency has an obvious remedy as does a toxicity problem in you system.
Do you know a good holistic doctor in your area? If so, he'd probably be able to find the cause and be able to treat it properly. I can tell you from my experiences with holistic medicine that there's usually some deficiency in the body that causes most of these annoying maladies and a good holistic doctor can usually rectify the problem. |
I get those sores every once in a while... annoying, like you said. Don't really know what causes most of them. Sometimes if I bite myself, like I did the other night, the puncture ends up turning into a canker sore. I have a bottle of that spray stuff that numbs it for a while... Usually I just deal with the pain and annoyance. Try to keep your mouth clean, and they'll go away faster. I usually brush and use listerine. Might burn like hell, but it'll kill off the bad stuff festering in there.
