Personally I use the above quoted and the conduct code to gauge whether a post should be edited, locked or deleted. Some threads are a blatant violation of the rules and guidelines. Others walk a fine line. Sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling. For example I almost deleted the post with the link to the soldier being killed because to be quite honest I almost threw up when I watched it and I've seen some gruesome things in my life. But I decided to let it go and keep an eye on it. I agree with Ed about the replies posted by members. It didn't go in the direction I thought it would. It generated some very good discussion and debate. Moderating isn't as easy as clicking on the lock button. What might be offensive to me won't be to someone else and what right do I have to delete it because it is offensive to me but based on replies posted it isn't to other people. I'm going to continue to use the conduct code and user policy as my "measuring stick" because I believe it will keep my moderating fair and unbiased which is what I said I would do in the first place. If anyone has an issue with my editing or deleting their thread please e-mail me. I respond to all of them and appreciate the feedback be it positive or negative.
