That must have hurt, they just showed it on NBC news. The soldier thought it was a dud, got up to put in a fresh tube then, blamo!, his ass was on the ground. I am glad that he was ok.

those TOWs are crazy...I had many DUDs in my time.

The best I have seen is my dismount having to go down range carrying a misfire....Hell he got to blow it up with C-4.

My wingmans gunner blew the antenna and mount off the right rear of the HUMMER....

You need to wait at least a minute with a TOW hang-fire. They happen. I had 2 when I was in Iraq in '91. Scary as hell when you are waiting.

If I heard the report correctly, they did wait at least a minute.

Edit to add, try this link for the video (it's about 1:50 into the news report, after the commercial) - video.msn.com/video/p.htm?t=1&p=Source_Nightly+News&i=0d3645d3-e6a8-47ee-b7dc-4a6ea8a9a7e4

We wait 30 min but by the time we show up its well past 30 minutes of the misfire happening.  We then proceed usually to take said TOW and BIP (Blow in Place) with explosives over the cone and rocket motor. BANG!!!!

They couldn't wait 30 minutes since they were in the middle of a live fire fight!
