Is there anywhere to get a PSG1 or MSG90.....
Real ones preferably.

If you wanna pay 10,000$....for a used PSG-1.

As I understand it, you're looking at paying $13,000 for a PSG-1 if you're very lucky. They cost $10,000 new, though. But they can't be imported anymore.

No and  I don't think HK has no plans to offer any new rifles on the civilian market. I'm surprised they still sell pistols to us commoners.

It's absurd of course, especially with the AWB gone.

There are plenty of other accurate 7.62x51autoloader tack drivers out there that are available.

And before someone starts talking about HK prices and how the Remington bolt guns are better accuracy for a lot less money, the Remington M24 system availabel to LE agencies goes for about $9,000 NIB. It is more accurate but not a lot less money.

...not to mention lacking the rapid followup shot capability.

How much are SR25's going for these days? That's probably the next accurate .308+ autoloader out there...(Sorry, but M1A's really aren't in the same league..they're up there, but not quite...)

I think SR25's are in the 8000$ range.

HK restricts the PSG1 to LE only. I can get them but at $11,000 NIB very few departments are intersted. An individual officer can buy one for himself but few cops have that kind of cash to spend. I only know of one individually owned PSG1 bought by an officer at current LE prices.

What's to keep you from selling a PSG1 to a civilian, since they are technically legal (or so I've heard)?

You can get a SR25 for under $3K.  For a Mk11Mod0 you will pay $7-8K.  I have a SR25 and it is a tack driver!  Anybody that has ever touched it wanted it bad!

I have a friend who kept his commission as a Sheriff's Deputy after he married money and became a businessman. He says he'll buy one if he has the time to shoot it.

Oh boy, those PSGs have sure gone up since the '89 ban. Prior to that, I used to see that at around $5,000US. A huge chunk change back then.

But I think the bolt-action Steyr SSGs are a just as good, at l/3 the cost. The PSG at $10,000 a copy,  is only for the very wealthest gunners, ie like the famous actors & directors in the movie industry.

Some find their way to the private sector (cops sell them) but they are only legally importable for LE use.

Wait - so it is possible for a civilian to get one of these rifles if it was owned by a LE agency?

SR25 match sell for around $3,300.00, but availability is another question.

I don't know about that, did you see the thread about shotguns that went into the 6 figures?
How many guys do you know that own a 10,000 motorcycle? Is that any different?
There are individuals with bikes that cost more than my truck.
The question isn't really how much does it cost, the question is how bad do you want it?
For me, I'd have a bolt gun built on a 700 action before I sprang for the M24, or PSG1. I'll never be good enough to see the difference.

You could easily get a SR-25 & have it tuned up to match a PSG's accuracy for less than the price of the PSG

+1

I'm not a 'veteran' around here, but damn, I see so many people pissing in other people's wheaties of late....

Why the f' WOULD anyone need to justify a legal purchase?

His/her money, let them do what they want with it.  If I wanted to waste 400 grand on a giant blimp shaped like a hotdog, and I have the cash, sheesh. Let me do it. In the end, it'd be for my happiness;  not anyone elses.

great responses thus far to that DUer.
I buy some rifles to shoot and some for PUER investment/collection purposes.  I think we all know where a Psg1/msg90 would go.

Unfortunately, it's WAY out of my price range.
All this talk of stoners is making me want an SR15 though.   1500 all tricked out, not bad at all.
I'm shying away from aR style 308's for 2 reason.  a) they only look like AR's, e.g. they share minor parts, but not all.  I know that 's dumb, but so am I,  b) I just started a FAL collection.

Uhh....

Wow.

I have a Remington 700 VS and have less than 1K in the rifle. It is a MUCH more capable weapon than I am shooter, that is for sure. (Precision rifle is the one arena of weaponcraft I have not studied much...)

But if I were to want a superbly accurate rifle, I think I would have Iron Brigade build me one for 5K. I haven't seen a target one of those rifles won't hit at just about any distance.

exactly- My VS outshoots me also.....just about 1k in mine and it holds .5moa...

IBA imho isn't something I would get- my buddy had a big problem with them and what they make isn't top of the line anymore... GA precision or HD rifles is the way to go.
