Go to jail for having opposing views?  Shows how they think.  Why do they call themselves Democrats?  Must be camouflage.

Let them try to put conservatives in jail.

Leaving the country is NOT an act of cowardice.

Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 01:19 PM by sh0rtbus
I am sick of being bashed on DU for my plans to change residence and possibly citizenship. The small number of historical American expatriates (including Ernest Hemingway, James Baldwin, Samuel Fuller, and many other great writers and artists) have contributed disproportionately to American culture.

America is a nation of immigrants. Some of us are very comfortable here, but others did not come so long ago and have never been made to feel entirely welcome. How can you condemn those people for trying to find another, better place?

I have been planning to leave the United States since before the 2000 election. I plan to leave still, even if Kerry is elected. It is not an easy task to emigrate legally, but I am working hard at it. There are many reasons for this, but cowardice is not one. Here are some of the highlights:

1. My partner is Arab-American. Not only do I not want to see her "disappeared"; we are both sick of giving money to the government to kill her people. Worse, she is of draftable age. We can't stomach contributing any more to a racist war against ourselves.

2. I am a scholar and an artist. I can't walk two steps in this country without being denigrated for my chosen work and identity. This has not changed since I was in grade school. Almost every other country in the world respects the arts and learning more than America does. I think I will have a more interesting career overseas, and anything that my work could do to "help" America could be done from anywhere.

3. American architecture has become ugly, most of the entertainment is insipid, and the food absolutely hideous. Go ahead and disagree; it won't change my taste.

4. I don't like sports, and I don't feel I should be stigmatized for this in employment and social situations.

Should I go on? The truth is that we are all citizens of the world, and it should be a human right for people to live in places they can stand. Insisting that simply by being born inside a line, people have a responsibility to stay inside that line, puts you in the Republican category in my book. I fight Bush for the sake of the human race, not the stars and stripes.

Democrats, beware: people are leaving whatever you say. If you mock us now, we might not reach out to help you when you need a "coalition of the willing".

Wow. Nice example of the liberal pathology. Persecution fantasies? Check. Messiah complex? Check. Emotionalism? Check.

People like this leaving the US should be encouraged. I would pay this one's ticket, myself, to GTFO.

I can't walk two steps in this country without being denigrated for my chosen work and identity self-importance, pomposity, and nonproductive lifestyle. I will consider coming back to Amerikkka when the sheeple recognize the inherent value of having a shit-swirling whole-grain artisan fuckstick like myself in their midst.

If that doesn't work, don't worry. If she gets what she apparently wants, she'll meet him for real.

I would bet a month's salary that the above person will never actually leave the United States Of America.  Maybe a month off on sabbatical to tour europe, sure, but to actually relocate permanently, no way.  And I would bet a year's salary that that same person will never renounce his/her USA Citizenship.

These people keep promising to do so but they never actually follow through.

I have been sniping for months that liberalism is nothing more than an extension of Leninism.  This plan to round up all of the "criminals" is absolutely NO surprise.  The DU policy of censorship of "disruptors" and banning of all "counterrevolutionary" speech, rhetoric and dogma should be a crystal clear indication of how liberals in our country think.

The Left can't survive unless the playing field of ideas is tilted.  The end of the Fairness Doctrine and the rise of the Internet spelled the doom of "only liberalism...24/7...on all channels".  The rise of conservative talk radio, Fox News and some conservative news outlets have finally not only begun to make inroads into what was before a totally liberal media forum, but now, more and more people are tuning into the TRUTH than to Jennings, Brokaw, Rather and Perky Katie.  We now have the MRC to ride herd on the media and publish their lies  That is why the true leaders of the Left want to see Limbaugh disappear.

The Left can't win a fair fight.  They also think nothing of ignoring the Constitution...if only to serve their socialist goals.  Their ideas are too fucking communist for Joe Sixpack and Miz Security Mommy to stomach.  The Left knows this..so they lie every time they open their pie holes, they censor when they can, they sue when they must and they would, given the power to do so, put every one of us conservatives in a Gulag or simply execute us.  Think I'm crazy?  Why do you think liberals HATE the idea of an armed citizenry???  What was the FIRST thing that Hitler and Lenin did after taking power?  Yes...they disarmed the citizens and made private ownership of firearms a crime.  Look at the history of communism and socialist regimes in the world:  Remember this:  The precedent for purges and Gulag was set by their all time favorite (dead...but NOT forgotten) oligarchy, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

This is the party that Kerry now leads.  This is the party that will nominate Hillary Clinton in 2008, should Kerry lose.

More than ANY other thing about the Democrats who control their party now, it is their deep rooted socialism scares me the most.  ALL other ideals, goals, plans, etc, have their basis in this.

We must no let them win.  Pax Americana and the future of the entire world depend on it.
