My dear beloved wife is a Hispanic, southern California-raised, UC Berkeley-educated health-care professional. She is also --surprise, surprise-- somewhere to the left of me politically. I have done my level best since we met to bring her around via careful, factual discussions of the issues, and my efforts appear to have borne fruit.
I just received an email from the love of my life informing me that she went to early voting today, and that W has another vote.
...I'm getting a bit choked up here...
This is the woman who made me so proud one day while we were watching a news report of a police raid on someone's house. When the reporter described the "arsenal" taken out of the culprit's basement and noted that "over a hundred" rounds of ammunition were confiscated, my wife turned to me with a smile and said, "We have more that that in the kitchen."
At a pistol course we attended, she was pointed out to the rest of the class as an example of intensity for them to follow.
She knows where it is that we should be killing terrorists, and it's not middle America but the middle east.
I am truly a lucky man.
