Malmedy is a bad analogy. This was a terrorist / Baathist strike, not the murder of prisoners taken in a stand-up fight between uniformed armies (nominally) acting under the rules of land warfare.

Those guys should have never been unarmed. Even if those guys had just had a concealed side-arm I doubt this would've happened.

+1 Why would they disarm them??? Must be something the US setup, no soldiers with weapons and ammo. from what I have heard about most iraqis is they carry weapons to most places. |

It is pretty much SOp to have your soldiers turn in thier arms before going home on leave, do you think US GI's keep thier M16's in thier Barracks room, along with a crate of ammo?
Given the desertion rate among newly inducted troops in any third world military, it is common sense to take thier rifles before you send them home on thier first pass. |
