I want to say first that I am thankful that there is currently a place like this to express interest, engage in dialogue, and view a multitude of perspectives.

With that said--I have within me this undeniable and very strong concern for this election.  I am 30yrs old and have only two (2) previous presidential elections that I expressed any political interest in.  I now have a family: loving wife(my greatest gift) and two children w/ one on the way.  My life revolves around loving my God, caring for my family, and serving my local church.

This year, I feel that I have been priviledged to be able to try and be better informed in this political season.  I have opened myself up to many views and listened to many voices.  I also feel that it is wise to try and discern those many views and voices in light of what is for me THE most important truth--the Holy Bible.  Other very important documents have influence in this discernment, i.e.  the COTUS, the BOR, and other founding documents.

In previous elections I have felt a sense of lacking concerning the 'menu' of issues certain presidential candidates.  This one has held that same hollowness.  In my search for a candidate that I can feel comfortable casting my vote for I have been feeling a sense of urgency--that is until last night.

For several weeks I have heard about this gentlemen and his 'ticket', but never took the time to invest in reading his issues.  I did that and am now comfortable in casting my vote.

I would like to introduce  Michael Peroutka of the Constitution Party.

Now, before you express your opinion on my 'wasting' my vote--allow me to qualify my choice.

* I am resolved to not vote the 'lesser of two evils'.  I am convinced that this is still voting evil.

* I am resolved that if I don't have to vote one or two issues I will not.

I DO actually agree that if you are voting for Bush it is a way to actually vote AGAINST Kerry.

With that said, "God * Family * Republic"

Peroutka's site

Thanks.

Go away you DU TROLL!! you're trying to steal votes away from Bush the way Nader is stealing from Kerry!! How much is ted Kennedy paying you to do this? 3 cents? Bush is the only one I belive who has the conviction to "push the button" to end the world after the third temple has been restored. Stop trying to impede the end of days, and God's plan!

One of two men will become president of the United States.

Do you not care about the consequences of your vote?

BTW, the lesser of three evils is still evil.

So far--I agree w/ 90+% of Peroutka's issues.

With Bush, it is more like 2 issues.

I will not vote that way.

Its OK,
He is from Tennessee.  He can make a statement.
If he was from Florida, Ohio or Pennsylvania I would have his ass.
Good for you.  Make your protest vote.

"To vote for a third party candidate is NEGLIGENCE. It's DERELICTION of your duty to ensure that if nothing else, the LEAST qualified candidate LOSES. It tells us that your indignation is a stronger force than your intellect. That you react with your heart instead of think with your brain."
by c

This is actually good!!  My first thought when I read this statement was, "I wonder how the framers of our Constitutional Republic would debate and vote if they were alive today?"

Wasn't there like 10yrs of debate BEFORE things came to a head and an armed offensive took place?

Like I said before--I agree that some may feel a need to vote AGAINST a candidate by voting for another.
I also think shame on us for allowing our nation to come to a point that we have to sacrifice a vote to keep out the communist.

Ok guys,
I want Bush to win just like most of us, but we are voting Bush because he will help up have the right to vote for who we want. If you think that people should only vote the 2 main parties then you should vote for Kerry because that is your right to choose who you want to be POTUS. You should choose the person who you think is the best, that person may not be one of the main party's people. Yes it is most likely a waste of a vote to you, but not to him. If you think you voted for the best person that is all you can do.

I am voting Bush because that is who I think is the best.

JHill, nothing you or anyone else has said changes the fact that one of two men WILL be president after the election.
And if nothing else, you should look at who President Bush's enemies are...that should tell you very clearly that he is the man for the job.

Personally, I think there should be a rule requiring a certain number of seats in Congress or the state legislature before you can put a candidate up for Predident....

It would put these spoiler parties where they belong, at the local level...

As of now, if you vote 3rd party, no one gives a shit about your vote...

You will be treated as a 'Kook' in the mind of the GOP, and they will resume trying to get friendly non-voters to vote, rather than chasing folks who's views don't align with the majority of the party...

Isolationisim and Republicans don't mix - the Roosevelt/Regan party will not stand for calls to turtle up back home... So the CP and LP are never going to be courted by the GOP...

I, for one, am glad for it... Ron Paul is bad enough, we don't need any MORE liberaltarians in the GOP...

He's referring to Bush & Kerry: the only 2 valid choices for President...

In this country, we pick our candidates in the PRIMARIES.

If any of the 'others' deserved to be POTUS, they would run as a major-party candidate in the primaries...

Primaries are for picking candidates.

General Elections are for picking PARTIES....

I honestly respect your convictions.
I'm sure the Republican party and President Bush will stand up and take notice of your position.

how in the world is Ron Paul bad??  He was one of three that actually voted against the excrement wiping paper we refer to as the Patriot Act.

What's the matter is he not neo-conned enough for you?

Ron Paul kicks ass.  Love that guy.

JHill, you really might want to reconsider.  I normally vote libertarian, but these are times when every vote really does count and there are really only two choices.  But do what you think is right.

JHill, I support your right to vote for whomever you feel is the best candidate for the job. I never tell anyone their vote is wasted. Why should he vote for a party or candidate that does not represent him? Unlike many in this thread, I do not fault for JHill for voting 3rd party. If anything I fault the Republicans (or if he was going Nader, probably the Democrats) for leaving JHill. As they keep inching leftward are we just supposed to go along for the ride because to do otherwise is to "throw away our vote" or "help the socialists into power"? Some people don't believe in the pragmatic solution and that's fine. They have a right to their opinion and a right to vote however they please.

At the same time, if you're this dedicated to Peroutka and the Constitutional Party then just voting isn't enough. Have you donated any money to them? Do you have signs in your yard and bumperstickers on your car? Have you volunteered to go door to door or make phone calls?

These people need your time and money much more than they need your vote. If you want to see them come to power in any form or fashion, it'll be an uphill battle with many losses along the way. Ask yourself, what are YOU doing to help? The bare minimum? Or as much as you can with your limited resources?

(Of course, if you're just protest-voting then I suppose that's a bit different.)

What's all of this bullshit for?

Bush is way ahead in TN, which is where Mr. Hill seems to be posting from.  His vote for the Constitution Party won't cost Bush anything, but will give the Constitutionalists some support.

This is like the guy in MT who was voting for Bush instead of the Libertarians -- who cares, Bush is ahead 20 points in Montana.

I followed the logic in 2000, voting for Harry Browne -- Bush lost by either 5% or 10%, depending on how you look at Nader's 5% of the vote in Washington state.  On the other hand, I held my nose and voted for Skeletor (Slade Gorton) because his race was tied going in.

The only places where it will make a significant difference are Ohio, Wisconsin, Florida, and other battleground states.

If you mean by his enemies, I am referring to people like Desmond Tutu, Kofi Anan, Yassir Arafat, Michael Moore, Alec Baldwin, Barbara Streisand, Eminem, and a long list of others, all of whom are either well-known socialists or assholes, or both.
