Fantasy PRE-election protest:

OCTOBER SURPRISE

Tens of thousands of commissioned officers have written post dated Letters of Resignation, addressed to: "President Kerry".
They were delivered to the Kerry Campaign and major media groups, nationwide.
A spokensman for the group said today, "We just can't allow ourselves to fall under the command of a man who has so betrayed and disgraced his fellow servicemen...."

If only it had been considered.
What a move it WOULD HAVE BEEN.

So if he gets elected they would all get shot right?

That's what his campaign manager said about some of the ad's against Kerry.

"They better hope we don't win" or something like that. Threats already

Not really a threat. I mean it would really suck for those guys if Kerry wins.  Im pretty sure you would go down for that no matter who is the Pres

I already hope they don't win.  I didn't need their threats to tell me THAT.

Sure, they can happen. Just as soon as he starts the draft he is planning on....

It was said by Chad Clanton about Sinclair stations airing "Stolen Honor" and yes, it was a threat. Plain and simple.

That makes no sense.
Officers serving beyond their first committments, may resign at any time.
Especially Guard and reserve officers.
NCOs and SNCOs who are in the reserves may also drop to the IRR at any time.

Word has it, there will be quite an exodus.
These men have served and sacrificed, and have no problem with continuing to do so.
But if Kerry lives up to his record, and starts pulling out of Iraq.  Not many will wish to see the sacrifices already made rendered worthless.
I'll stay, because I have men who don't have the luxury of saying "adios".

If Kerry is elected, they won't need to resign. Kerry will get rid of them and downsize the military, just like Clinton did. I don't care what he says, Kerry will leave our national security up to law enforcement and will have the ATF and FBI attack American's, just like Clinton did.

Good.  Maybe this will help put an end to AmeriKKKa's imperialist warmongering against innocent countries whose only crime was having oil our corproate plutocrats want for themselves, and who send the poor and minorities to kill civilians and DIE for it.

I salute these officers for their principled decision.

Well yes and no. At least for the Army, past your initial obligation you can REQUEST to resign your commission. However, they can also turn down that request, and from what I hear HRC has been doing just that. You can get out, but you will still be subject to recall.

I'll be staying.... I made it through Clinton, nothings forever.

If you do that, are you OUT out, or do they put you in the IRR or boot you to enlisted status?

There will be 2 divisions:
US and them.
VA disability payments will be reviewed and downsized as under Cl*nton.
Survival skills will be stressed as "Social Programs" receive funds slated for the Military.
Body Armor will be a minmal concern compared to the lack of Food, Fuel and Ordinance.
Military Leaders will be subject to polling data before troop movements can be made.

IF we do see 2 new Divs. they will be the Terrza Heinz brigade and the Shillery Cl*nton Legion.
YMMV,

They are already happening.  30,000 more Army and 10,000 more USMC have already been voted on by Congress.  The Army troops will among other things bring the 10th up to full strength.  And expect additional troop level increases for FY 2006.

Didn't.
SHOULD have.
It would have been a great political maneuver.  Especially for officers and SNCOs who were planning on getting out anyhow.
It's a shame.
It would be a great internet rumor, though.

As an officer, if you are past your initial 8 years, you can be OUT out.

I highly doubt many AF officers would do such a thing.  I wouldn't do it and I really can't think of any other officer who would do it either.  So yes, if this happened, it would be a suprise, and I suppose it would happen during the month of October.

I can't speak for other branches.

We could easily go to 2 more divisions.
Just start wacking all the EAC units.
We have too much ass and trash.

8 years under Clinton.  I can't handle 4 under Kerry.
I am less than 10 to retirement.
Quitting now would suck.
Vote Bush, do it for my children.

This is my 19th year.  But that means little to me.

I know of many who have been through alot of deployments, and are on the fence as to whether they wish to continue in the service.
A Kerry election, will apparently push them off that fence and out.

I'm staying, because I'm hoping to kill more terrorists.
That, and the loyalty to the my junior enlisted who can't make such a choice.

But for Officers who are not in line units, because they are beginning a few years of 'B' billet duties (Schools, recruiting, I&I, etc.), it's an option that I have heard discussed ad nauseum. That is the traditional point when many leave anyhow.

Boy, I hate to say this, but I think it would be wrong for commissioned officers of the United States to use their office as such to influence an election.

I'm certainly praying for a Bush win, but if Kerry wins that only increases the obligation of right thinking career  soldiers and Marines to stick it out.  If Kerry wins the troops are going to need the leadership of solid officers and professional NCOs more than ever

I've thought of  same thing.  I wouldn't do it because my soldiers can't do it.  Even if I tried, my resignation would probably not be accepted.  Guy working with us on orders right now tried to resign his commission but division denied it.  He had the option to go IRR, but he'd have been mob'd immediately if he'd done that.  Not sure how they can deny a resignation when it's past the service obligation, but evidently they can.

Bush had better win...

Or I will end up starting my career under that socialist weasel (I'm not commissioned yet, and he's not President, so I'll get in a pre-emptive' weasel' just in case the worst happens)...

I would not use a resignation to try to influence an election: it's too much like a kid's tantrum (If I don't get my way I'll hold my breath.").  But, were I still in the military, I most assuredly would resign my commission the day after inauguration of  Kerry.  I don't believe in threatening, just do it.

Wouldn't it be better then to NOT have Kerry get elected?

These tactics may seem extreme and evn "Third Worldish".
But this is the path down which we travel.
The Democrat army of lawyers is going to  wreak havoc upon the way we conduct elections.

This is all moot anyhow.
It is nothing more than an academic discussion of tactics.

I'm not an Officer, but I am calling it quits if Kerry wins. Klinton was enough for me.
