Just as long as it's not the 20th, I'm cool with it.

I don't understand the question.

Are you implying that civilization hasn't already ended?  You expect me to believe that what we see all around us is "civilization"?

The end of "civilization" was 1 August 1914.  We are just going through the inertia of the resulting downtrend.

As far as the Mayan calander is concerned, my suspicion is they just stopped at a convenient point.  That is, their version of an "age".  It certainly was a long enough time back.  They generated enough calendar for use, certainly a "perpetual calendar" for practical purposes, except for the occasional "undead".    I'm sure they would have begun calculating another cycle about a hundred years ago or so.

No shit. If they were smart enough to know the end of days don't you think they'd be smart enough to know when and how to save their civilization.

Sure hope not... I wonder if that was just a convenient 'cut off date' for their calendar.

It's a shame they didn't predict their own extermination.
That probably would have been a more useful bit of information.

I think that on Dec 21st, 2012, I will be 46 years old and entering my second midlife crisis.  Aside from that, I doubt anything momentous will happen.

This whole deal kinda makes you wonder if 1000's of years from now people will look back and say, to these people, being in love meant stuffing her in the pooper and taking pictures, they always wanted to do it to the most beautiful women![
