My, how times have changed. They just showed American firing squads (with a front row kneeling and back row standing), shooting numerous captured guerillas in Germany, in the closing days of the Second World War. Stood 'em up and tied 'em to a post, blindfolded them, and fired. When was the last time you saw that?
They also told the account of Russian treatment of the same. In one instance, a Russian soldier was killed by local German guerillas. The Russian response? Round up 200 young German men that were suspected of being guerillas, and shoot them all. Now that's efficient! That's a history lesson that should be well studied and applied in dealing with Al Quaeda.
Different time, different war, I guess. However, I believe Putin would repeat the aforementioned Russian treatment in Chechnya, if given the chance (and he may get it).
