Lord of the Rings is always a good fallback when you have nothing new to watch. |

The Punisher for a decent action film with virtually no gore. Very little offensive language either.
Jersery Girl is a good comedy. Affleck did a good job, as did Carlin. Hellboy is a decent action flick with a bit of comedy mixed in. Along Came Polly and 50 First Dates are both good comedies. 50FD is one of Sandler's best films. Something's Gotta Give is an excellent comedy/love story. |

Please keep them coming...but to clarify what we've already seen (and my notes for reference):
50 First Dates (both loved it) Something's Gotta Give (both loved it) Along Came Polly (I saw it on an airplane...decent) We do own the first two Lord of the Rings Extended sets (waiting for #3) Hellboy...NO WAY we'd watch it. Neither of us like that style of movie. QUESTIONS: Are "Jersey Girl" and "3000 Miles to Graceland" actually good? I'm not an Affleck fan, so please elaborate on JG. Tell me about Reservoir Dogs...I thought it was supposed to be gory and/or have a ton of vulgarity. |

"Resivoir Dogs" is NOT something to be viewed with the wife.  Go for 3000 Miles to Graceland. It is the Kevin Costner version of "Oceans 11" (which isn't bad either, Vegas Casino Robbery, cept in Graceland they are dressed as Elvis and an in Oceans 11 they are cops and George is trying to win back his ex.) Both are equally good for a chick.

3000 Miles To Graceland was a decent film. I'm not a big fan of Costner's work, so I'm a bit biased in that regard. I did enjoy watching it though.
Jersey Girl is a semi-romantic comedy. It deals more with Affleck, how his life is changed by being a single father, and how he deals with his wife's death. Plus it has Steven Root in it, so how bad could it be?  Saved was a well made film, although the subject matter is certain to offend some. Probably more of a teen film than you want though. Starsky & Hutch was a good comedy as well. Envy is a really good film. It is funny, but there are also dramatic aspects. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a good heady film. Girl Next Door was a surprisingly good film. But a little more teeny than you might want. Stuck on You was good as well. I'm pretty much drawing a blank on other recommendations. Most of what I watch is comedic. I'm not much of an action fan. |

Boondock Saints. Do yourself a favor and buy it, though - don't rent it. It's only about $10-$15 and you will want to own it, I promise.

LOL...well, turns out that the wife nixed both the Stuck on You and Envy movies and said she'd rather see 3K to GL. So that's what I got. I'll write a review later this weekend. I hope Costner and Russell do not disappoint. |

Blues Brothers...ahhh yes, one of the greatest comedy films of all times.
ANYWAY... Watched 3000 Miles to Graceland. It was entertaining, but on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate it a 6. Too much of the gun play was far too unrealistic, like the bozo hanging upside down spinning like a disco ball while shooting the federal agents. I suppose it was intentional, but dumb nonetheless. I did like Courtney Cox's role, and Kurt Russell's spot. Not too keen on Costner's performance as it was mediocre at best. Did anyone notice that the flattened out hollow point Russell pitched to Costner )when they were in adjacent cells) was flattened on the wrong side?!?!? You could see the hollow point clearly defined and the BACK of the bullet was flattened. COME ON PEOPLE! Thanks for the suggestion of the movie. We were entertained. OH YEAH...in case you were wondering, I did score.  So Brasspile, I'll stick a "##" next it too.

I didn't think I'd like Hellboy either when I first rented it but it was seriously good. Very good action/effects, no cussing (he does say "oh crap" a couple of times but I don't think that quite counts), and it is funny. Seriously.. don't knock it until you've seen it.
