Keep this confidential! If the women find out they will hoard all the batteries.

I buy 9v batteries by the 75 count box for $45 on E Bay.
Playing paintball in tourneys eats up 9v's like crazy.

Do they perform any different than the Duracell variety? Surefire used to specify either their battery or Duracell by name in the warranty papers!??

I was on vacation in england. The battery in our camera died, thinking 'oh super, where are we going to find these and how much will I get ripped off for!'. Popped them out of the camera, wow! 123a's! Remove batts from surefire for the camera during the day, put them in the surefire at night. Problem solved!

According to those that know, and my own personal experience, the Surefire batteries work BETTER than the Duracells.

I know we all get good deals, but how do the battery companies do this? Isn't it illegal in some way?

Why? Making money is legal in USA last time I checked.
Do you think this is the only case where such large markups occures?
I work in an industry where an item may cost $1.00 to manufacture but end users pay $10 at mass retail outlet like Walmart or $15 at speciality store.

I would disagree... They work fine and I use them (when I have to pay out of my pocket,) But IME they don't last as long as the Duracell.

edited to add: Run time, not storage time. Of course, I have never used two fresh sets, side by side. I would still go with the Surefires... Of course, they will probably jack their prices up soon.

I've got 12 of them, haven't used them yet though, still in the packing tube, and it says Made in the USA.

According to the Duracell website, their DL123A has a 1400 mAh capacity. Anyone have the specs on the Surefires?

I buy mine by the dozen from these guys: www.zbattery.com/, shopped around and while I occassionally find them cheaper, these guys always send me "fresh" batts.

Mike

PS - as noted above all my 123s I get from Surefire as they appear to be fresh and last as long any Duracell, plus ya can't beat the price.

It's called Capitalism. Haven't you ever paid attention to the ridiculous cost of bottled water?
The local 7-11 charges a $1.69 for a quart. That's $6.76 / gal - 3x the price of GASOLINE.
My water bill states $0.95 for 748 GALLONS - that's 1/10th of 1 cent / gal.
How's THAT for a markup?
