Looks good.  I'd get it, if I trusted Chrysler products.

If you like it, get it. Just know that in the next 12 months, it will lose around 15%-20% of its value.

Have you looked into the 4Runner?

The front end looks durangoish.

I'm in favor of jeeps.  I'm not in favor of buying any car new, unless you're uber loaded.

I have a slightly older JGC.
I took advantage of the fact that, for some reason, JGC's do not hold their value well.
Look at Wranglers and such from the mid 90's.  They are worth more than the 'luxury' JGC's.
Check out a 2-4 year old model.  They are very affordable, and hold up really well (imo).

Mine has the straight 6 4liter.  Gets about 13mpg in the city (which is where my wife puts all the miles on it).

So if depreciation and mileage are not a worry, then I would say go for it.

What's the intended use? That should guide you in your purchase.
Before I make a large buy, I like to list out all the "I wants" and "I won't do withouts" of features/performance before choosing.
For example:
4 doors, 2 doors, 3 doors or 5
4x4 FWD RWD or AWD
MT,AT, CVT or SMG
etc, etc etc.

Once you figure out what features you refuse to do without you can dramatically narrow your selection to those products in your price range that meet your requirements. From there you can refine your choices in any number of ways. For example, when I last when shopping for a vehicle my main criteria were:
FWD or AWD, MT or SMG, 200+ bhp, under 25k, at least 2+2 seating and must be able to be serviced locally. That narrowed it down to a handful of vehicles and after comparing other "I want" options at my price point, only one car met the specs.

I would think (but could be wrong) that someone considering a JGC would not be in the market for a Wrangler...the two seem to fill different roles.

If you want a jeep for real off road use, get a Rubicon.  The down side is cramped back seat and not a lot of storage room.  I have a Cherokee ( not a grand cherokee) and love it.  119,000 miles and no problems yet.

Why did they have to stop making the cherokee!!!

My ex bought a new Grand Cherokee. I think it was 2001. What a huge POS that thing was. They are plagued with transmission problems.

The new GC looks fine but it has an IFS suspension. Better to have the old solid axles. More capable offroad. You should be able to find a nice '04 fully loaded in the low $30k's now. A new '05  like you have pictured will run you closer to $40k.

Dont get any vehicle thats in its first year of production.  They havent gotten all the bugs out.   JEEP products also like to suck gas like there is no tomorrow. Really loose steering.

over the last 8 years my parents have had I think 5 or 6 jeeps. No problems. I personally do not care for them. I am 6'4 and my legs hit the console. They do have some balls. I heard the new one has a HEMI.

Lexus RX330 will be on the road twice as long, hold its value better and spend much less time in the shop. Oh, yeah, it gets better gas milage too.

Always buy a car 2-3 years old with low miles, dont be in a hurry thats how you get taken.  If you dont mind loosing 10% as soon as you drive that puppy off the lot then go ahead.  Your better letting some other idiot take the hit and save yourself some cash.  Buy a used land rover or something like that.  Jeeps suck gas and i have had 3 of them.
