I was browsing several posts at once, but I cannot tell which one it came from. Either the botd thread, the funniest pic thread, or the 40 vs 9mm thread. I got a pop up from my virus checker saying it tried to download a trojan, and was caught and deleted.
Make sure your virus checkers are up to date.

There is a jpeg virus now.  Could be that.  Or could be a popup from a linked site.  Try using Firefox as a browser.  99% of my issues have dissappeared.

JPEG virus? As JPEG's are not executable, I can't fathom how it could cause harm, much less reproduce itself. This one needs an explanation.

its a security flaw in ie that allows hidden code to execute when viewing a .jpg with microslows viewing software.

the updates should fix it.

always use a virus scan.

I have the source code of an example exploiting this security hole, but I will not post it here.

Warning. Careful what you browse Trojans loaded here on arfcom.

Is that  because of all the BOTD threads?

There are adolescents, with no social life or suntan, who spend 12-14 hours a day looking for vulnerabilities in Microsoft products.

I use opera. it was my virus software the popped up a message saying I was trying to download an infected file. Funny, I thought it said it was a txt file not a jpg, but I wasn't paying as much attention to it as I should have.
Well here is what it said
opr0MD89.htm is infected with Downloader-OO.txt Trojan.
So I couldn't tell what page it was from.

I wondered why my PC slowed to lock a few weeks ago- despite McAfee

had to send it back to Compaq/HP to re-load the system & drivers...

Yeah, but it got lost in all the other bitching, so no one heard it.
