How many languages do you speak, and have they come in handy at all? I took some German in high school, and I was thinking about taking that up again. If that doesn't work out, what else should I try? Any suggestions?

I recommend learning Mandarin, so that you can get a job in the house when our Chinese masters take over, and won't have to slave in the mines with the rest of us.

Took 2 years of Spanish and 2 years of German so far in high school.

I don't remember a lick of Spanish, except how to order a "hamberguesa y papas fritas." My german is not near as rusty, but not anywhere close to fluent.

I speak German, French, Mandarin, and American.

German is not used much, unless you work for a German firm or something.

Spanish is a popular language. Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic group in America. so Spanish is a good one to have in your toolbox
