Not because I like him or that Bush has totally bungled Iraq every step of the way, but because “GRIDLOCK IS OUR FRIEND” people. The enemy IS the “Republican/Democrat Bi-Dictatorship” that IS our government. One thing is for sure, the common man will always suffer under this arrangement. Unfortunately, we are not ready for a revolution that will free us from our “paid-in-full” government yet, so the only power we have is to tie things up so nothing gets done.
That means using some creative thinking in manipulating who wins elections instead of using emotional first reactions. Example: “Bush is more pro-gun, let’s vote for him!” This IS a true statement, BUT, consider this. Some posts on this site seem to suggest that if Kerry wins, he has the power to actually “command” new gun laws, This is ridiculous and those of you who understand politics know that.
There seems to be little realization of this concept around. Republicans WILL still control the House and Senate with most likely even bigger margins than today, thus making the next President virtually powerless when it comes to Federal gun law propositions as well as anything else HE wants.
Don’t forget also that The Republican Party is drifting perilously closer to the religious right, who have an agenda of government intrusion into the lives of Americans that make most Democrats look like Libertarians. Examples of Republican supported laws that intrude into the freedoms we think we have, are:
1-Right to put any substance in your own body that you choose. (i.e drugs are illegal). I’m personally anti-drug but if I wanted to smoke pot, I don’t want any DEA man bustin’my door down.
2-Right to kill yourself if you want to: It’s illegal people!! How ridiculous is that?
3-Right to have sex with whoever you want. It’s still illegal to have oral sex in Lousiana, WITH YOUR OWN WIFE!!! This law was recently upheld by the Republican state court.
4-Right to marry who you want. Personally I have a female wife, but if I wanted to marry some midget alien cannibal man from venus, I don’t want the Government buttin’ in my business. Who cares who marries whom!!
More examples are prostitution laws, anti-gambling laws, anti-porn laws, helmet laws, seatbelt laws and the list goes on and on, of Republican supported laws that take basic rights of American citizens and jams the governments unwanted nose into our business. ALL government intrusion is WRONG when it is based on an agenda of legislating morality and personal behavior. Republicans could repeal these laws if they chose to, but they are terrified of losing religious right votes.
If the Congress was all Dem, then I’d say vote for Bush. But since it’s all Rep, we need a neutralizer to that power. Too much power for one Party is BAD for you and me. Gridlock ensures us nothing gets done and that’s GOOD for us. We don’t need more stupid laws.
I would think that especially people on this site could see the evils of government intrusion. If Republicans get too much power and they let the religious right nuts take over their party (which IS happening), you’ll see all types of  “bans” being imposed. Sure they’ll start with the “sex stuff” but then they’ll move on to written materials (including evil gun books) and eventually when it’s politically advantageous, they’ll come for the evil guns too.
If you fall into this trap of Dems vs. Reps, then they have got you! When you have two enemies, what’s the best strategic move? Yes, it’s a good move to side with one and kill the other, BUT, it’s an even better move to make both of them believe you are their friends and then watch them kill each other. Gridlock does this. Protects US from both parties. Be smart-Not emotional. Look beneath the lies that both will spew in order to trap you.

He may be a troll, or maybe not. I confess I have thought long and hard on whether Bush for 4 more or gridlock would be better off for the country.

Many of my personal politics are at odds with the current platform of the Republican Party, but I've still decided to vote for Bush if only because Kerry is a lying traitorous bastard.

I hope that whatever concerns I have about future legislation pushed through by a Republican controlled legislative and executive branch can be countered by the Supreme court, if only because lately, conservative judges are less likely to twist the constitution in knots to try to justify certain political views.

So, gridlock is our friend?  Because you want less stupid laws?  How about thinking that if Kerry gets in office, he has the power to put some Supreme Court Justices in position that will allow violations of CONSTITUTIONAL rights, not just your right to get high.

You mention Iraq, and grudgingly admit that Bush did not bungle it.  HEY!  Kerry will bungle it.  Not might, but he will.  He, like all Dem presidents since JFK will have a bad relationship with the Pentagon (the military does not like Kerry), will make military policy based on what he thinks might please the sheeple, and will not aggressively pursue terrorists, or better yet, let the military use its resources to effectively and efficiently pursue terrorists.

Kerry will kowtow to the UN.  If you think that is ok, ok, but we definitely disagree there.  UN is deliberately trying to erode the independence of nations, in form moving toward a world government, Americans subject to laws made by other nations.  Bad.

I can go on, but electing Kerry just so Republicans won't outlaw gay marriage is a pretty expensive proposition.

BTW...  !  You are dumb.
