They hold enough now to be at maxium and still fit in the pistol grip. Why double stack when new mags can only be made with 10 rounds anyway.

I think they used to make double stack mags for 10/22's before the mag cap limit.

Ramline did produced a double stack .22lr mag. Sometimes it would not feed correctly. Single stack mags I have experienced were 100% reliable.

a few manufactures made them befor the ban
imi (desert eagle) made a 90% plastic 22 pistol that had a double stack mag (20 rounds i think) that was not that popular. ramline also made 50 round double stack mags for the ruger 10/22 before the ban those are the ones i remember anyway |

My brother has the Grendel. It takes a Thermold like 30 round mag.
It's a bona-fide jamo-matic. |

The large rims on rimfire ammo tends to make feeding from a double-stack magazine difficult. Being that .22LR is of limited effectiveness vs. humans (except in the "assasin mode", where hi-cap isn't necessary), people were more concerned with reliability than capacity.

I've got a double stack 30rnd Ramline mag for my 10/22. Got it at Mal-Mart years ago for 15 bucks!

Your brother should experiment with different ammo. Grendel's are very finicky about the ammo they use. My R31 loves CCI, but I've heard others who have had good luck with Winchester.
By the way if it's a high cap .22LR you want. Get a Calico. 100 rounds of fun. Just make sure you wind the mag to spec. MG |

My Rem597 came with a double stack, single feed .22LR magazine, and there arent any preban magazines available for it (totally postban gun, IIRC). The only part of the magazine that isnt inside the receiver is the thick (1/3")floorplate, its got to incorporate enough mass to drop free somewere.
