My experience is that it's pretty close, but you'll probably want to refine the POA a bit.

Assuming your irons are already zeroed, yes. Get the sight picture and lay the dot directly on the top of the front sight post, with the dot cut in half by the top of the post (and centered). This should suffice for most uses.
