I did once..... ONCE!

I bought 20 ga instead of 12 ga. No returns on ammo ... I can respect that. So what is a man to do??

Tried to convince the wife that since I have  the ammo I NEED the gun to go with it... she's smart... didnt buy into it.

So everytime I went to the range I looked for guys with 20 ga shotguns. Finally a couple of guys shooting 20's I said"Merry Christmas guys" They were just amazed, why would someone just GIVE THEM ammo.

Told them, My screw up is their lucky day.

Shit happens. NEXT TIME I will pay more attention.

some one had stuck a box or .22-250 in the .223 pile. Same color and size box.
I grabbed two boxes.
My wife was with me and caught it.
I had grabbed the .22-250 box.

That would have sucked.

I thought I was the only one that did that.  Same thing.  Got 20ga instead of 12ga.  Well, guess it makes a good excuse to get a 20ga shotgun.

Bought 3 boxes of 9mm Makarov at a gun show.  I meant to get 9mm Luger.  That'll teach me to pay attention.

can't say i've done that.

I've gotten the 'wrong' ammo in that I was wanting some more .45 defense rounds, and picked up a box of FMJ intead (wasn't thinking at the time).....but that wasn't a big deal, I just shot an extra box the next time I was at the range.

I knew what you meant too.

One time at my nephews birthday party, when the cake came out and the candles were lit he said "I wanna make a wish, I wanna make a wish" So I grabbed him by his ankles and spun him around the room until he went "A-whish, A-whish"

I thought Now was a GREAT time to teach him the danger... Of homonyms.

I've never bought the wrong ammo before but I do have ammo for a gun I don't own.  This lady at work bought a chest at a garage sale, and when still took the drawers out to refinish it, she found a box of ammo. She brought it to me, since she knew that I am a gun nut and she didn't know how to dispose of it.

Anybody in the Phoenix area want 36 rounds of 9x18 Makarov?

No. When I go, I take more ammo than I need anyway. I also take  a mixed ammo can that I dump any partial  boxes into when I am done shooting and generally draw from first when i get to the range the next time; it has enough of a mixture of rounds that I can  put together at least a  a few strings of fire for just about any firearm I own.

I've done it too.  When they are in those big stacks and all the boxes are the same, it's an easy mistake to make.

i bought a dessert chicken in 44mag shortly after they came out. manual said don't shoot all lead, semi- jacketed at the least.
i picked up a box of full wadcutters by mistake.
"what can a single box do?" i said to myself.
8 short shots later and my gun was inopperable. lead shavings blocked up the gas port.
oh well.
sold it long ago, so it's no longer an issue.

Never happened to me. I am far too anal retentive about such matters to make a mistake. I am a detail freak. LOL.

I bought a box of .22lr when I asked for .22 Mag.  The boxes under the glass counter were sitting next to each other.  The kid grabbed the wrong box.  CCI boxes do look similar.  At least I only paid for .22lr.

I bought a box of "9x18 police" once. As it turns out it IS NOT just a fancy name for 9x18 Makarov. It's only chambered in some obscure gun I will never buy. I have no idea what the hell i am supposed to do with it now though.
