I am no way affiliated with this sale..

I just find it sad that there is no family member with enough  respect to hold
and keep this Medal dear to them.

Current bid:  US $109.50

Time left:  12 hours 56 mins

Bogacheff Simon

17 Apr 1892 - 05 Aug 1961
Michigan CPL
CO M 339 INFANTRY WWI Purple Heart

The 339th was part of the 85th CD "Custer Divison", formed mainly from Michigan men. Several Companies from this division (including Co. M) fought with the AEF in Siberia against the Bolseviks, including such places as Archangel, Murmansk, Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. The men were then known as the "polar bears".

Don't be so sure.

Items such as this which are found at Arlington, or on the Vietnam Wall, or at the Korean memorial, etc., are preserved with great care by (I think) the Park Service.

You should see the collection of stuff they have from the Vietnam Memorial!

I have a purple heart named to a soldier killed in Vietnam, along with the award document, some snapshots of JFK in Honalulu and a newspaper clipping that shows the soldier standing as a MP Guard while Kennedy watches an airdrop at Bragg. Also included were some pictures of a one of a kind street rod and a man we thought was him in it.

These were brought into my store by a woman who owns mini-storage buildings. They were found in a unit that had not had rent paid, and she brought it to me hoping we could find the family as she tried and could not. The data listed in the registry at the Wall only has his last duty station before Vietnam as hometown, the American Legion there looked for family and found none, same locally. We got the local TV station to run a story and we found out about the pictures of the car and the man in them, he came in our shop the next day but he had no clue who the soldier was or how he got the pictures.

I will search for family for a few more years, and if I fail to locate them I will respectfully leave it all under his name at the Wall, where the park service will collect and keep it.

Aimformyhead..

If your serious about taking this bid.. you may consider sniping the auction
bidding in the last 30 seconds..  not allowing anyone enough time to reconsider his
proxy bid.

I sincronize a digital clock to the auctions ending time..  I normaly take auctions
in the last 10 seconds and less ... Everythig filled out and curser on the final bid button awaiting
my click during countdown..

if your on dial up allow extra 15 seconds just in case

My 10.00 is in the mail..   Post your address if you win it.. Good Luck

The auction has not ended.  Put me down for $10, $20 if needed.  I'm broke as a joke, but I would like this returned to it's rightful owner.

Snipe the bid, don't artificially show interest and drive the price up.

We're buying  it so it can be returned the rightful owner not for some jackass who wants it for his collection.

We still need a member in the Douglas county , WI area to take it to his grave site.

People do not know how to bid on Ebay.  It only makes sense to bid with seconds left.  Bidding early only drives up the price.

Your ip address probably reverse resolves to something that appears to belong to an ISP in another country (or you really are in another countr). What's your ip address (or at least the first 3 octets, if you're paranoid about it)?

Aparently this isn't a rare thing on ebay. Maybe we couldn't give this one back but maybe we could return a different one.

Bogacheff sounds like a rare name. I'm gonna try to look up the family and tell them that the madal was just sold for $180.

At least at that price it went to a collector who will honestly know and respect what it is.... or it could have even been a family member that bought it.
