Guns: Tool or Toy?

Are guns more of a tool or a plaything for you?. At first my gun collection was just a form of entertainment, now I don't shoot for fun and I don't hunt, my guns have simply become tools of self defense. Whats your opinion?

Mine are tools. I shoot to keep my edge sharp, but other than that....

Both, I can go to the range or the field and shoot them for fun and when I get home if soemone breaks in I can use it as a tool to protect myself. hug.gif

I have some that get used and used hard, I have some that just go to the range, I have a few for shooting varmits and a few for collectability

They are objects I fix. But the looks on the owner face when they pick them up is like a kid at christmass.

SO get both.

1, 2 & 4.

Don't hunt much anymore.

Plus they satisfy that curiosity and fascination to 'fondle' ? (

), and possess functional works of art. ie: the blueing/case colors of a premium Colt .45, .... finish, blueing, ingenuity of a high-grade gub'ment model .45, .... the smooth action, fit, & finish of an early Python, ... etc., etc....

I was raised to belive ALL weapons are TOOLS
There are different TOOLS for different jobs.
And some people like to collect tools.
That is all.

Tools .......... But no one ever said you can't enjoy the use of a finely crafted tool

Mine are all pretty much toys. I don't hunt. Don't have ccw. They are in the safe most of the time.

In truth they are mostly a political statement though.
