I don't. I think they are interesting, but I am not one to go their conventions.

Why, they got their origins from older American scifi. Like Bladerunner and movies the of that time. Anime is entertaining to watch.

You guys need to look a bit deeper.

While there is a lot of crap out there, a lot of the stories are VERY deep and involved, have subjects (and characters that would pull down R and NC-17 ratings if done as American films) and generally are excellent.

I personally think "Cowboy Bebop" is some of the best entertainment ever put on film, but you have to WATCH anime.  Seeing one episode just won't cut it.  Plots and characters take TIME to develop.  Also, many english dubs SUCK ASS (both in voice acting and changing the story).

There are far too many flavors of anime to condem the whole thing on just one or two bad series.

Another great series is Trigun.  It starts out kinda silly and bubble gum but evolves into something much darker and adult.

Oh, try Ghost in the Shell if you want a damn good stand alone flim (there is a followup series, but the orginal is OUTSTANDING).  Also the orginal Patlabor movie is a damn good intro to what anime can be and EVERYONE on this board should see Gunsmith Cats.  The attention to detail is simply amazing.

You probably didnt mean to infer that the Cowboy Bebop dubbing sucks, but if you did I would have to say that I think the Cowboy Bebop in english is far superior than in japanese with subs.

However yeah it is true that alot of dubs arent as good but Cowboy Bebop is definately an exception.

I liked the movie, but lately I've seen the both seasons of the series and I prefer the series.

Uh...you guys do realize they are just drawings, right?  As in not real.

Those girls in Gunsmith Cats looked like they were 12 years old.  Most female character in anime do.

Shes still hot, and you can find a girl that kinda looks like her and dress her up like this... then do all those things you say..

Correct.  The dub in "Bebop" is OUTSTANDING.  Probably some of the best that has been done.  The english voice actors are PERFECT for the characters.

And for those that think anime are "cartoons" I dare you to watch 'Bebop".   You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll think, you'll care, you'll stop thinking of the characters as just drawings and the ending will DEFINITELY hit you right in the gut.

The realistic firefights (yes, you have to reload those things), the detailed guns. (altho no one has been able to explain why they use 100 year old firearms, but whatever)

Well I guess in 2070ish 1911s will still be as good as they are now in 2004.

I've found that anime grows on you.....

I used to hate it, but now I don't mind it too much
mostly because of playing way too many RPGs

In honor of this thread, I give you my old avatar of Ryoko.  I got into anime via Robotech, but it was Tenchi Muyo! that sealed my fate.

Bebop kicks ass.
Ghost in the shell kicks ass.
Ninja Scroll 1 kicks ass.
Akira kicks ass.
Evangelion kicks ass in the beginning and then WTFs in the end.
Jin Roh is lots of story with out much movie, still good.
Spriggan is lots of movie with out much story, still good.

In that order you can get into it and you'll like it.
