Forgot how much I like this stuff.  For those unfamiliar...it's techno with a hard edge.  Anyone else like this stuff...I forgot I did.  Suggestions for new material?

Anyone else like industrial music?

I like White Zombie. Do they count?

I think so.  I'd throw Trent Reznor into the mix as well.

Marilyn Masnon is most definately NOT industrial.

You might like some Funker Vogt, Das Ich, Hanzel und gretyl, Skinny Puppy,  Hate Department,  stromkern, razed in black, KMFDM, MDFMK, PIG, Pigface, leatherstrip, Kevorkian Death Cycle, electric hellfire club, Godmodule, Die Krupps, 16 volt.

Most of that stuff is fairly hard edged. There is another flavor of what I like to call "top 40 industrial" or "easy listening industrial" that I can expound on if anyone actually cares.

Expound away.  Where does Front 242 fit in your classification?  Hard edged...or easy listening?

Front 242 is NOT industrial.
I's just pop.  Sort of new wave pop.
Like Heaven 17, or The The.

Cincinatus: In my circles of rivetheads Front242 is considred industrial, though I'm not really gonna argue the whole pop thing with you since alot of what I consider "top 40" industrial is pop-ish.

Lay some top 40 industrial on me.  I used to listen to the stuff when I hung out at bars and drank till last call.  Those were the days.... (to the tune of Archy and Edith Bunker)...

I always considered "industrial" music to have somewhat of an edge and be a little bit electro.
I guess the definition is flexible.

Zippy,

Well some Front 242 stuff fits in both catagories, almost all industrial bands tend to have stuff that fits into both areas really...
What I would call more "top 40" industrial would be stuff like VNV nation, covenant, Fictional, apoptygma berzerk, beborn beton, blutengel,  Din Fiv, evil's toy, genitorturers, melotron, wumpscut.

I just discovered Cradle of Filth.....but it's more Goth metal then industrial.

Cincinatus:

So why wouldn't Front 242 fit with your defintion of industrial, its definately electronic, and at least some of their stuff is hard edged.  At least songs like quite unusual, headhunter, or circling overland.

I guess it's just not hard enough.
"Industrial Night", at the local bar, was always bordering more on metal and goth, NOT New Wave.

Ok I can agree with it not being all that hard. But its still good stuff. Front242 also pretty old and in general industrial has kinda split into the really hard edged power noise stuff and into the top40 stuff anymore.

If you count Rammstein, yes. But they're about all I'm familiar with.

I don't really have any favorite genres, I just get songs I like (legally, of course ;)).

Nobody's mentioned Ministry yet.

Land of Rape and Honey, The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste, In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up, Psalm 69...all good albums.

My wife is a big rivethead.
