What song do you think is the saddest, most depressing song ever? The saddest song in my opinion is "Ballad of Worms" but its not for the typical arfcom crowd unless you listen to underground hip hop. (If your an Eminem fan your far from underground).

+1 Or "The Freshman" by Verve Pipe I'm a HS senior and we have a "Memories Video" at the end of the year... they always play that song and it is always sad. |

Suicide is Painless
Suicide is Painless (Theme from M*A*S*H*) Through early morning fog I see, Visions of the things to be, The pains that are withheld for me, I realize and I can see... [REFRAIN]: That suicide is painless. It brings on many changes. And I can take or leave it if I please. I try to find a way to make, All our little joys relate, Without that ever-present hate, But now I know that it's too late, and... [REFRAIN] The game of life is hard to play, I'm gonna lose it anyway. The losing card I'll someday lay, So this is all I have to say. [REFRAIN] The only way to win is cheat, And lay it down before I'm beat, And to another give my seat, For that's the only painless feat. [REFRAIN] The sword of time will pierce our skins. It doesn't hurt when it begins. But as it works its way on in, The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but... [REFRAIN] A brave man once requested me, to answer questions that are key. Is it to be or not to be? And I replied 'Oh why ask me?' [REFRAIN] 'Cause suicide is painless. It brings on many changes. And I can take or leave it if I please. ...And you can do the same thing if you choose. SGtar15 |

Will The Circle Be Unbroken - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band et. al.
My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys - Willie Nelson Daniel - Elton John, though the lead singer of Fuel does a pretty impressive solo acoustic cover of it. Cats in the Cradle - Harry Chapin. This one has reduced me to tears since I was a kid. Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas... |

Can't believe this hasn't turned up yet:
"Mad World" by Gary Jules from the Donnie Darko movie. I'm surprised high schoolers aren't dropping like flies listening to this. - BG EDIT: Lyrics: Verse 1 All around me are familiar faces Worn out places, Worn out faces Bright and early for the daily races Going nowhere, Going nowhere Their tears are filling up their glasses No expression, No expression Hide my head I want to drown my sorrows No tomorrow, No tomorrow Chorus And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad These dreams in which i'm dying, Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take When people run in circles its a very very Mad World, Mad World Verse 2 Children waiting for the day they feel good Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday And they feel the way that every child should Sit and listen, Sit and listen Went to school and I was very nervous No one knew me, No one knew me Hello teacher tell me whats my lesson Look right through me, Look right through me Chorus And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad The dreams in which i'm dying, Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take When people run in circles it's a very very Mad World, Mad World Enlargen your world Mad World |

Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. We played it at my son's funeral. He wrote it following the death of his son. It took years before I could listen to that song and not weep.
|
|
that is the single best song in the history of music. For me the most depressing is "Cuts You Up" by Peter Murphy |
|

Good song. Girl of sixteen, whole life ahead of her Slashed her wrists, bored with life Didn't succeed, thank the Lord For small mercies Fighting back the tears, mother reads the note again Sixteen candles burn in her mind She takes the blame, it's always the same She goes down on her knees and prays I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours But I think that God's got a sick sense of humor And when I die I expect to find Him laughing Girl of eighteen, fell in love with everything Found new life in Jesus Christ Hit by a car, ended up On a life support machine Summer's day, as she passed away Birds were singing in the summer sky Then came the rain, and once again A tear fell from her mother's eye I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours But I think that God's got a sick sense of humor And when I die I expect to find Him laughing |
