I have a new Colt LE receiver that has that stupid screw pin, but it's .250 diameter like a standard pushpin.  I'd really like to drill the fence for a detent and put a regular pin in, but everyone I've showed it to is ADAMANT that it would be a very tricky operation with a high likelihood of fucking up the receiver.

Has this been done, and by who?

Have you tried Steve at ADCO?  Sounds like the kind of thing they might do...

Guys that do 0% recievers do it all the time.
Use a new, sharp drill bit and go slow.
You might have a problem with the edge of the fence being too far back from the hole for a proper pin to work, you'd need a TIG to build the area up if thats the case.
