I want an additional drive, I have SATA, can I use either a ATA 133 or 100? Trying to figure out which ATA type I have and if it matters if I use a 133 or not.

I'd rather use a new SATA drive because it's much faster than ATA 100 or 133.. otherwise you can get either an ATA100 or ATA133 drive and attach the dongle convertor so it can connect to other SATA cables..

What I would do personally - get a second SATA drive.

ETA:
SATA is neither ATA100 or ATA133 - it's much faster.

If you're using a SATA drive now, an IDE drive, of either transfer rate (133  100) will work as long as your motherboard supports IDE.  I cannot see why it should not as SATA uses a very small cable connector versus and IDE and most SATA motherboards have two SATAs and two IDE channels.  Hope this helps.

It looks like the motherboard has 4 SATA ports. I do have an "older" although brand new 133 drive and was just wondering IF I could use it. I think it's 133, may be 100 though.

I may just have to get another SATA drive.

Thanks

You should be able to use it regardless of the transfer rate (133 or 100) as long as you can either adapt it to the SATA slot using an adaptor, or use an IDE cable to connect the drive to the motherboard.

That drive will be fine.  Just dont use it for a primary OS hard drive or you will notice slower performance.  That drive would be great for file storage of avi's or pictures.
