I believe that The Rock has a bright future in films.  He has a great blend of humor to go along with his action abilities.

Just so I know the story here...was the original about a sheriff(or somethin)named Buford that took vengence by kickin ass with a baseball bat and went around town in a full head cast after a beating he recieved?

Is the new story like the original?

Oh and I agree that "The Rock" has a bright future...he is pretty damn funny for a muscle head...very self depricating.

Was very entertaining, but I do agree it ended too early.

This wasn't a remake of the original.  Do a search on Bufford Pusser and read it.

At the end of the movie, they dedicate it to the memory of Buford Pusser.

i loved how the 2x4 evolved throughout the movie...

2x4
2x4 with leather grips.
2x4 with leather grips and wood stain
2x4 with leather grips, wood stain and contoured for better areodynamics.
Large bat.

No.
There were two films prior to this one. This one departs from the other two. It is more like based on than a remake.

The two previous versions with Joe Don Baker and Bo Svenson were closer to the actual story of Buford.  The name is the only thing I found that the Rock's version had in common.  All three were good.

There were FOUR films prior to the one with The Rock.

Are you sure?
The article I read when the Rocks version came out said two.
IMDB says two.

It sucked. I guess you have never seen the original. I was really disappointed in the remake. It was sooo far fetched.

Yeah...It was a great movie.

I'll agree with you that it was over earlier than it should have been.

One of the only three great movies I've seen this year.

In case you're wondering:

2. Anchorman

3. Starsky and Hutch.

Good movie...

The Rock was great - a big dude that can play it off a bit...

Is Johnny Knoxville going to become the next Tom Arnold?  Bit parts, somewhat funny...
