I just called on a room in Ft Lauderdale and the savings seemed pretty good.  The web shows the room for $109 a night but the friendly NRA chicky quoted me $56.25!  Seems almost too good. I wonder if it is a POS motel (although it looks good on-line) and this is just a normal rate I can get through any discount broker.

Any experience in this?  How did it go?

I do my best to only give my business to those who sponsor the NRA.

I've used the hotel discount (works well for me), rental car and life insurance.

No complaints here.

I have several times, and it has saved me a ton... I think it is the same discount as AAA but I am not a AAA member.

The hotel discounts are nice to have.  I've used them several times and have never been disappointed.  Good luck!

Quoted:
Who do you book through? The NRA or you call the hotel and ask for the NRA rate?

I called the number on the back of my NRA card.  There was an auto answer that said something like "Welcome to the NRA booking line" and then you choose which hotel you want.  I'm not sure if the actual person I spoke to worked for the NRA or for the hotel.

I priced a hotel the other day with the NRA travel site.  It added $49.10 for tax and service fees, for a total of $109.00   .  So i booked with expedia.com for a total of $67 ($59.80 + tax).  I wasn't sure if it was a mistake or not, but didn't want to take the chance.  Maybe i could just call next time for a quote.
