Are we talking about fresh bakery bread or the stuff in plastic bags ?

Good bread -eat the whole thing

Wonder bread - eat the middle then feed ends to chickens

The heels are there to help keep the middle fresh.

Depends on the bread really.
Though I don't feed the dns to the chickens (don't have any) I use them as "buns" for hotdogs or burgers.

The heels are the extra-chewey parts.  Who'd want to throw them away???

The heels are good with PB.  Chewey and gooey.  Yummmmmmm.

My mom always ate the heels in our house.  No one else would touch them.

I actually skip the first 2 peices of bread and use them as a buffer to keep the rest fresh.

Do that, then make a PBJ out of the heels. If I don't do that, they either get tossed out (if Mrs. Tanker
finishes the loaf), or fed to the birds, if Ms. Tanker does.
