PARIS, France -- An explosion outside the Indonesian Embassy in Paris has wounded nine people, a fire commander has said.

The cause of the blast early Friday morning is unclear but French radio station Europe-1 quoted firefighters as saying the explosion took place on the embassy's ground floor.

Police have cordoned the area off in the exclusive 16th district of Paris, French media reports say.

Windows were blown out nearby, and rescue workers warned nearby residents to stay indoors, according to the radio report.

Rescue workers led several people from the scene, which was crowded with fire trucks and ambulances. The firefighters cited by Europe-1 said nine people received light wounds.

Indonesia is preparing to inaugurate a new leader after President Megawati Sukarnoputri was defeated in an election last month.

Former general Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won a landslide victory in the September 20 polls and is due to be inaugurated on October 20.

It was the first time the world's most populous Muslim nation had directly voted for their president.

The ballot was praised as a key step in the country's transition to democracy after the downfall of ex-dictator Suharto in 1998.

In the book "The Seven Myths Of Gun Control" there is a chapter on ACTIVE COMPLIANCE. Basically, it says that people are taught 'If you do everything the bad nasty people want, They will take what they want and go away'

Problem is that Active Compliance (Like the French's position) is an outdated practice. Today, they take what they want and then kill you anyway.
