I got this in an e-mail today and thought it was kinda funny...

Doctors:
A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health Human services and is a
conservative number.

Now think about this:

Guns:
A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80
million.
B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is
1,500.
C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.0000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous
than gunowners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST
ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.  We must ban doctors
before this gets completely
out of hand!!!!!
Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics
on lawyers for fear the shock
would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

If they were to calibrate that number it would be higher once removing, Podiatrists, Chiropractors, Opthalmologists,...
The professions who have never killed.

Already replied to this once; not going to waste much energy on it again.  Want more drs to support guns?  Don't promulgate attacks against 'em - sheeple will believe drs kill, so no tort reform b/c we need to be taught a lesson.  Kerry and esp Edwards laugh all the way to the bank with this garbage.

In brief: no basis for comparison, since presuming not having a dr while you are sick is somehow a comparable risk to not having a gun available.  You are going from a state of zero risk to some risk (no gun to gun) and comparing it from higher risk to lower but still appreciable risk (sick/no dr to sick/dr).  BS and nonproductive.  Sorry to be cranky, but it's been a rough day.

sleepdr out.
