Going camping in the desert at end of october and doing for the most part Target Shooting. ANd i was wondering what do u guys bring to shoot.
All i got is some Cardboard Targets and some bowling pins.. What do u guys use? |
Those Fluorescent Clays, Gongs, Shoot N C, 2-liter bottles...
And yes I bring a bag for clean-up. MT |
paper....
i need to find a place to shoot stuff other than paper (stuff that breaks, not bleeds) |
Go buy a bunch of cheap golf tee's they are great for target shooting. If you like color, then buy some paintballs to put on each tee. o
Cans, plastic bottles full of water, balloons, and the occasional computer.
Refrigerant tanks filled with H2O or empty make great targets!

... Tannerite, almost exclusively unless sighting in rifles or practicing pistol drills
Tin cans, and paper. I also use whatever others have left out at the range.
18" and 12" square rifle gongs at unknow distances from prone, sitting, and standing stances.
Please clean your mess up and do more and clean a bit of someone else's too. I know that the rangers that have run across me have been more then happy I police my own brass and shoot gongs and paper. |
Always do! |
clay pigeons, sams club pop (full cans and empty), bottles, bowling pins, a 50gal drum (i'm trying to shoot it in half), microwaves, propane tanks, dehumidifiers...etc.
I paint the metal lids of glass jars, they make great targets for pistol ranges. And are a real challenge for rifle ranges.
... Tannerite is a self cleaning target ... BTW Paul, nice "retirement" post. I read it during the debates and was going to respond a "Thank you for your service" reply but my doorbell rang. |

You get extra points if they are hippies, plus you will recieve a bonus if you can prove you brutalized them. |

For $1000.00 Alex,
What is...Muslim Extremists (code for terrorists ) |
ballons, milk jugs, water jugs, cans of baked beans, fruit, 2 liter bottles, eggs. |
I meant targets. Unless u shoot ur 10/22 at ur m4! |

Tin Cans. I take an old wire hanger, straighten it out except for one bend which goes over a tree branch, or what have you.* Get a 16-penny nail and a hammer, and punch 2 holes on the non-open end of a tin can. Loop the hanger through the holes, like a fish-hook.
However, it really screws with my depth perception if I dont put something behind it, like some scrap wood or cardboard. And to all those who thought "Destroyers" when I said "Tin Can", I dont have my Iowa-Class Battleship yet. *Yes, I have a proper backstop with this, in the form of a big friggin' hill. |
Yes please stop shooting at me. |
I used to shoot at a steel plate, half inch thick. I'll have to retire that target. 5.56mm does a surprising amount of damage to it.
Kid.. i wanna get some Tannerite,to shoot on BLM.. but im scared shitless to use it U have any run ins with Rangers/BLM guys out in the desert while using it?> |
got a 6-8 inch thick cross section of stump that I shoot.... .308, .45, 9mm, 3 1/2" deerslug are all stopped cold but .223 zings through like nothing
I ussually stop at a house with a sign that says 'FREE KITTENS" Or "FREE PUPPIES"
I prefer reactive targets. The cries of the wonded kittens/puppies will attract coyotes, and then I can shoot them. The dead coyotes draw buzzards, I shoot them. By then, I am out of beer, and I go home. TRG |

Charcoal Briquettes are fun. They make a big cloud of dust when you hit them. They also are biodegradable and cheap.
I like to shoot crabapples. If you hit them right they explode.
where can I get some of the electric qualifican tragets the mil uses? the ones burried behind a birm you shoot and pop back up?
Good thinking, man. But you can always fill the beer cans up with water and shoot them, too. I like to fill two beer cans up, and spot them close together. Then I fill up a third, and place it behind the first two. The first two are hostages, and the third is the bad guy. Head shots only. |
