I had one and sold it. It blocked the driveway and I got tired of washing it.
100k? That's pretty cheap. |
Too bad thats not the price, reserve my fried reserve. No doubt is looking for $600-700k if not more. |
Jeez, that's a nice plane.
Wonder what parts availability is though. |
100k seems pretty low for a jet powered fighter and spare parts
eta: notice the seller's name "mscalicutie"? edited again: gee, though one might expect a little more info and pics if this is a serious auction |
Old jets are cheap [to buy]. It's getting them airworthy and maintaining that airworthiness that costs the big $$$. Plus, turbojet engines have short range and suck lots of gas.
If someone is really serious about buying it they won't be looking at ebay for the fucking info....
It looks like that Saab has two guns. Let me get this straight...I can't buy a USGI AR-15 sling, but I can buy a fully functional Saab J-35D and ground support/maintenance equipment? eBay is retarded.
MiG's sometimes go for less. Planes are like guns. You might not spend a lot on the plane at first, relativly speaking, but then you've got engines, parts, fuel, inspections, basic maintence, all that crap. Plus cost for the stuff that you may not be able to do yourself and need help on (how many pilots know how to change an engine on a L-39?). |
The fuel bill alone on this fighter would be in the area of $1000+ an hour, if not much much more. The best civvy jet right now is the L39.

No? but they'll shop there? eta: how about the pictures? three pictures for a 100k piece of equipment? I wouldn't want to see pictures of "a" used car if I were buying it... I'd want to see pictures of that particular car.. but what the fuck do I know, right? after all, I had no idea that people shopping for jets regularly use ebay |

Does this strike anyone else as strange? |
Yeah.... |
Some over-paid rapper will probably buy it to buzz the next MTV award show. More bling than any tricked out Escalade, and its 30mm cannons beat any Glock, even the 45GAP.
I want a L-39. Badly. Or a Javalin, but I'm not banking on making that kind of money. |
It would match my 900S. However, I think I may have to check with campus living if I could get a parking space.
I'm certain it will have to be de-miled prior to civilian registration. IIRC, a Draken was used in Miller beer ads a few years back. Cool looking airplane, still impressive in accelleration and rate of climb performance, like the BAC Lightning. Probably makes a hell of a noise when you kick in the afterburner on take-off, too. |
One of you KA guys should send the link to DieFi and ask that wench how they can sell these evil weaons of mass destruction on Ebay????
The discrepancy in AF and E times are because it's not the original engine. FOD maybe?
Dave |
After I win the 177mil powerball, all of you can come on over and wash it for me!
It already has a civilian registration. N35350
There is nothing to demil on this aircraft as it has already been demilled.
Is it the one that's been flying in the ads? |
Ok, someone give me a winning lottery ticket. I need to work on my interceptio skills :D
TheOtherDave is correct, not the original engine. I wouldn't expect any used airplane to have the orignal engine. |

This airplane was also at Reno last year for the races, Skip Holm did the demo flight there with it. He is also the only guy allowed to fly that plane. the owner has some other goodies at McClelan also including an F100, flown by Lee Holcomb ( I did his BFR last year ).
Here is another pic of the same Saab and the F100 I took at an airshow at Nevada Co airport. The F100 was at Reno this year painted in camo on display. Here is another pic of me sitting in Rare Bear just so you'll hate me. Charlie |

Lots o' sun and 1/4 native american makes for a very red Charlie |
I just saw an F-100 for sale today for $350k with a sweet Thunderbirds paint job. |
Wow, I didn't realize that it was here in those kind of numbers. Always figured it was uncommon enough that only 1 or 2 were in civilian hands. I think Austria still operates a few squadrons, so maybe even more will be surplused. |

Some migs are an absolute pain in the ass to service and maintain also. Ive been told on some models you have to literally tear apart the back side of the plane to remove or service the engine. |

hehe...I forwarded this to several aviation-minded friends. A friend who's dad flew the Eagle wrote this:
