What is the minimum arsenal you would want to allow you to shoot from CCW distances out to long range, and everything in between?  Plinking, target shooting, home defense, everything?

Here's mine:

CCW:  KelTec P3AT .380

Vermin/plinking gun:  Walther P-22 .22lr

Sidearm:  SIG P226 9mm

Rifle:  AR 16" barrel in 5.56mm, with .22lr upper and suppressed 9mm upper.

Long range:  AR 20" barrel in 5.56mm with bipod and quality glass

Shotgun:  FN Police 12 guage

And that about does it.  Six guns, five calibers, with capability from <21 feet out to 500+ yards with the 20" AR.

What's yours?

Model 92 Winchester and Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt.  I can't see 500 yards.

2 guns thats it thats all you need.

One CCW gun, maybe a sig or something with a like a4in barrel. Than one AR 15 with as many different uppers as you can get.

And I be dead serious about that too.

CCW: Taurus pocket .38
Hiking Gun: Either 1911 officers or a .357/.44 (depending on whether your major worry is two or four legged)
Survival/plinking: Ruger .22 rifle
Home defense, small animal hunting, and fun gun: AR
Hunting (all others) Win 70 30/06
Fun pistol shooting: Browning .22 auto
Winged hunting and clays: your choice, some of the russian guns are for doubles the equal of what Mossberg used to be for value in pump guns, however

Theoretically:

(1) Kimber Pro CDP II & .22LR conversion kit - this handles ALL the handgun tasks

(1) AR-15 carbine, 16" FF & .22LR conversion kit - this handles ALL the rifle tasks

(1) Mossberg 500 shotgun - this handles shooting flying stuff

3 guns, 3 4 calibers.

Wouldn't that be four calibers?

.45 ACP
.22lr
5.56mm
12 guage

My minimum that I have would be.
Colt 1911 Gov't .45ACP 21-100yard combat/carry
M1A  .308 out to 800 yards
AR15 5.56mm CQB and out to 500 yard combat
870 Police Magnum 12Ga. home combat

That is the minimum I will go down to if giving a order to do so.

Pistol, rifle , shotgun. That really about covers it. As far as the rifle goes the AR of course wouldn't be a bad choice even if it was a varmit config. I'd use mine for up close (10 yds , not like I'm gonna transition if BG is on top of me.) out to the 500 yd peramiter. As said before shotgun for flying stuff and of course could also be used for up close or out to about 100 yds + or -. The other thing is you can only carry so much. These three would mostly cover it.My 2 cents.Take care.

If absolutely necessary I think I could make do with a Glock19 and an AR.  If I was serious though I'd keep my 1911 and my FAL.

Sig 226 9mm/.40, no its not a .45 but I wouldn't worry about being out gunned. A .40 that hits beats a .45 that doesn't/

A rifle, AR-15 20" upper, takes care of most other things, an M-14 if you feel that you need it.

And a shotty, mossburg 500, top folder 16 inch barrel. (for close encounters)

A) you could conceivably carry all three of these, with enough ammo to make each viable.

4 (20rnd) mags for the 226 plus on in it = 100 rounds
6 AR mags + 1 in it = 210
box of shotty shells with it loaded... what like 27 ish rounds.

B) from shooting indoors, to 500 yards you should be good to go.

Seriously what good are 7 guns if you have to tote it all day.

CCW: Walther PPK

Sidearm: M-9 (Beretta 92)

Rifle (universal): 20" A4 Stainless HBAR AR-15 with Harris bipod, ACOG and 6-24x scope on QD mounts (attach appropriate scope depending on the range). Carry handle for BUIS, maintaining reasonable 0-600 capability if both optics go down.

Shotgun: Saiga 12 'unsporterized' with folding stock & Kobra or similar red-dot.

Really, I can't see NEEDING anything else... 4 calibers, 4 weapons, at most 3 would be carried at once (no need for both the shotgun and the rifle), usually only 1 or 2 (eg if packing a long-arm, the PPK gets left home in favor of the M9)...

Maybe .22 conversions for the Beretta and AR, to allow for expedient practice/cheap ammo...

Can survive with 2 1/2 (the half being an upper):

1911 for sidearm
AR10 with 16" and 20" barrelled uppers.

A smaller, pocketable .45, such as a Defender or Kimber with 3" barrel would be very desirable, but considering the idea behind "minimum"  I could live with a 1911 or Commander size.  The AR10 would allow me to engage close targets and CQB with the 16" upper and an Aimpoint just as well as any AR15.  But, I can break through more cover or barricading with the 7.62 cartridge, especially through the 20".  And, I can hit anyone quite well at 500-600 meters.

I would def. want a large rifle caliber in the mix. I'd probably omit your Walther P-22 . So here's my list:

a 22 pistol (like a 22/45)
a 1911
a AR w/ a 16" or shorter barrel
a scoped .308 or 30-06
a shotgun

I would use my USP45F and my trusty M1 Garand. I would also have my M4 strapped to my back alsop for good measure. Thanks Arvin

This can go on forever....
1st and only reason for me is point and pull with a shotgun.
It's harder to miss a target with 28 balls vs one projectile.

You can loos the 12 gage -- the AR will work fine in the home.

And you can loose the M1A --  the AR is probably more accurate at long range anyway.

So you end up with:
1911
AR15
