Just hope whoever opens the envelope is trustworthy. I once had a problem when I paid my rent with a money order, I had to get two money orders one for 300 and the other for 500, I bought the money orders filled them out properly and sent them to the landlord. A couple of weeks later the land lord asks me why I only paid three hundred dollars. and I told them that I had paid eight hundred, they agreed that if I could prove that I had indeed paid and could get them some documentation, that they would refund the late fee (eighty bucks), but I still had to pay the difference tight then. So I called the Money Order company, had them trace the money order and a month later I got an envelope with about six pages of documentation, including a copy of the money order after it had been deposited into an individuals checking account. I realized quickly what was going on, so I called the landlords office (a major real estate agent in the Fayetteville NC area), and asked the receptionist, if MR. XXXX was available, and instead of answering that she didn't know who that was, she said that, that was her husband there must be a mistake he didn't work there, I apologized for calling the wrong place and went to go visit my land lord. I got to the Office, asked the receptionist if I could see the account mamnager and she very politly let me in. The real estate lady couldn't believe it, and even started to claim that it must be a mistake, and even acted like she might accuse me of trying to scam them. After reviewing the documents I had for a few more minutes she asked the receptionist to look at the bank documents and ask her if she recognized them, she said she did, then she showed her the copy of the MO that she had added CO MRS. XXXXX after the name of the realestate company., she claimed that she didn't know how that could have happened.

In the end, the next month I had an eighty dollar credit and there was a new receptionist when I took the rent in.

I send cash through the mail.   How often does mail get lost, really?

Especially if I am sending it in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope.  I think there is a very very very tiny chance it would be lost.

now, I am not advocating trying to pack 10 grand into a Flat Rate 2-3 day envelope, but a couple hundred aint a biggie.
