I just bought a Garmin Etrex Legend today and it's amazing!  Next weekend I'm going shooting in PA near Minersville and it's the best spot to shoot.  It's hidden on the road side near a Wal-Mart and the ground is littered with literally hundreds of propane tanks, computer screens, TV's, bowling pins, etc.  I'll be posting GPS coordinates next week.

Does anybody have GPS coordinates they'd like to share?

Is there a website where you can punch in GPS coordinates and it'll give you an approximate location via satellite?

Tagged for later. I've got a couple of prairie dog towns marked but I think I'd just as soon keep those to myself.

Geo cache...my DEP unit went out going after them, left army keychains in a few of them on Mount Diablo, called it a land nav course. Map/compass, terrain association, and pace counting. woohoo!

If you park at:

N 39.07.939
W 106.10.899

...and hike to the top of the trail

...your GPS will look something like this (elevation)

...and the view will be this

Can you add maps to that one?

I have a Magellan FX324 color that I use for fishing. The detail of the maps is incredible.

UTM (Universal Traverse Mercator ?)  is easier to use.  Basically the entire world is divided into 1kilometer grids.  It's a simple matter to plot a location on a map, and a lot easier to figure out how far   away it is.  Ops

I've had an Etrex Legend for years. Make sure to go to the Garmin site and update it with the latest firmwhere.

Also, check out the Mapsource software from Garmin. Great for use with a laptop.

Have fun.
