My top was around 130, And regular I can catch myself hitting about 110 when I am on a open road or on the freeway at 3am.
Never have had a ticket or even stopped. Edit:: Fastest was on a drive from Montana. Made it back in a single day, 1400 miles. |

Not any longer, for a while but if your going to fast it becomes a case beyond speeding, your looking at jail. Edit: Reckless is the word I was looking for  but yeah they have speed limits now.

Around here as long as your under 10 over you don't get stopped most of the time. In Louisiana around Golden Meadow the city police will write you for 2 over unless you have a sticker on your car from the city hall that you get for making a donation to some cause. That's the story anyway.

I've gone up to 10mph over past many troopers on the interstate....I did get pulled over once for doing 14 over on the interstate $124 doh!
EDITED TO ADD: I DID have an 2004 FHP Active Supporter Sticker on my back window, and I still got the ticket from FHP....that bastard... I have a radar detector now.... |

Maybe 5-10 mph before getting pulled over, although in my area, they take speeding very seriously. There is a village near my home, Willow Springs, that gets a lot of $$$ from speeders.

I know that when I lived in MA that I (and everyone else) could pass cops on the Pike and 495 doing 90 and they would not blink an eye. Here in VT, it seems to be a bit different. I stay less than 80 on the highway (so about 10-15 over). |

Give 5 ticket 6 is the unwritten rule here. In some spots traffic is so heavy that even the motorcycle cops don't bother with you unless you're doing 15-20 over. Doing the speed limit in these cases would make you the dangerous driver.

Traffic is typically moving either stop-n-go, slow-n-go, or 20 miles over the 65 mile an hour posted limit here. When I leave California I have to remember to slow down to only 5 miles an hour over the posted limit and take off the aggression.
On the high desert freeway it's a bit faster with 25 miles over the limit most of the time between San Berdo and the California/Nevada stateline. I'll average around 90 miles an hour for the 300 something mile trip with a pee break in Baker. |

Usually 5-7. Most cops I talk to give you up to 10 mph over. I was told by my brother whose a cop in PA that PA State Police have to give you 6 over and local PA police have to give you 11. They're not supposed to run radar in the rain either.
One time, 24 MPH over the limit. I was on active duty going home for a funeral and I had my package in for a local police academy. He let me go with a verbal warning. |

10 or under for me. In my neck of the woods, you rarely see cops, and the ones you do see, are pulling people over for doing more than 10.

On the highways around here it's still 55 mph , but at 75 your good to go . 78 will
get you a $200+ ticket . In the local towns there is no telling , some will tag your ass at 5 mph over and others don't seem to care how fast you go . |

All depends on the officer and/or informal department policy. Most of the officers I've worked with over the years say they won't touch anything between 1-5mph over. You have to account for a speedometer error. The PD I used to work for wouldn't touch anybody for 10 and under.

Here in GA, I believe the local cops aren't allowed to ticket for less than 11 over. State Patrol can, though.
On the rural interstates, the speed limit is 70, and most people are usually going about 75. I tend to go about 78. But on the urban interstates, the limit is 55, and people are still going 75. If you drove 55 on I-285, you'd get killed. EVERYONE is going 70+. |

tagged for speeding once...
warning for 30 in a 15. it was in a state park, but after hours, so there was no safety reason to keep 15 (speed limit set low for pedestrian safety). Maybe the fact that I was in full Eagle class-A, with my whole unit yelling out their windows as they passed, was what got the warning. On normal roads, I usually do "limit+10 or +15" and haven't been stopped for it yet.... <<knocks on wood>> |

I was pulled over on I-95 by a Broward County Sherriff once and was given a warning to keep it below 80 mph. The speed limit is 65 mph there. It's also not uncommon to follow a State Trooper on I-95, the turnpike, or I-75 doing 80-85 mph.

In the city I go the speed limit period, with a few exceptions.
On the highway, I go exactly 75. The limit is 70. At that speed, the COPS pass me routinely. |

I get my Lightning 60-80 mph over the speed limit in spots I know on the interstate. In other speed trap areas I stay 5 under.

Around here you can do 10 over without getting stopped unless you're in a small town, then you have to drive the actual limit. Tickets are also $150 here for speeding.... so you just have to be aware of where you're at.

I'm from Indiana, we invented speed. 15 over on the open interstate, 10-15 on open highways, backraods in my county are marked at 30, but it depends on the area, if its turning into a suburb, then 15 over, on the strait open roads, as fast as you want, came up on a state cop doing 95 in a 30 and slowed down to pass him (he was going the other direction) he never slowed down. All of this is is in my sports car, a 96 dodge 2500 4x4 CTD.

 Priceless! I recall driving through Indianapolis a couple of years back and seeing Dodge Vipers everywhere. There was some sort of convention of owners. An hour before the city and an hour after, you could spot Vipers left and right. And they definately weren't following the speed limit.

I drive the speed limit(around 65 or 70) but because I'm old the cops don't bother me for slowing down the flow! I recently got a dodge van with a 360 and a 4 barrel carter and that dude crusies like a Grey Hound!!
But I could get a Shelby Cobra and drive 150 mph and still get passed on I-35 south towards OKC! Bob

Cities/towns usually give way less than HP.
It really depends on the area, the conditions, and the cop. less than 10 is good to go most of the time. 15+ will almost always get you noticed. TRUST ME, IM WITH THE GOVERMENT. IM HERE TO HELP. |
