Gentlemen:

Legislation currently in the legislative process is of great importance to the FFDO program. A bill is to be brought before the House Aviation Subcommittee by Representative Mica of Florida. Sections 14 and 15 apply directly to the FFDO program.

Within the Senate an amendment to S. 2845 has been submitted by Senators Burns and Bunning.

Among other things, both these bills do three things ALPA(Airline Pilots Association) has been striving to accomplish since the inception of the FFDO program. They make full time concealed carry the method of transport. They push forward international authorization and they enhance FFDO credentials with badges. The language varies with the Senate language being the stronger.

The first two items, concealed carry and authorization on international flights are very important and necessary improvements to the program.
