I have collected a few knives over the years.  I have a benchmade not sure the model # but I really like my masters of defense knives, I have 3 of them and a boker ceramic.  Just curious what people are carring.

Colt AR-15 serrated blade.
Had it about 6 months.
Still in great shape, and still smooth operation.
Keep it in my back pocket, alongside my wallet.
Fits really well, and it is pretty rounded/smooth.

My favorite was Ken Onion Kershaw, until I boke the tip off. It just didn't seem the same after that. Alas, shortly after that happened, I found a Coldsteele Recon 1. When I say found, I don't mean I was in a knife shop and saw one I liked and baught it. I mean I found one after drill weekend on the bus. I waited for two months, but nobody came to me and said "Hey SSG COLESTEELE, I lost my knife, did you by any chance find one?". So now I got a replacement knife for free. Probably not a knife I would have baught, about $100 Retail, but a great knife for free.

I carry an extremely well worn benchmade Stryker every day at work.  Not much of an edge, but then I'm not skinning a buck with it.

Spyderco Endura, 1/2 serrated -1/2 straightedge blade.

I can open it or close it one handed, with either hand, even behind my back, even while hanging upside down in a climbing harness, faster than most people can open or close any other knife one handed with their dominant hand while holding it in front of them and looking at it.

Speed of opening is a big deal for me, but speed, safety, and surety of closing are equally important. Your priorities may vary. I also need to be able to use either hand equally well, as I may be holding myself safe with my primary hand and unable to let go without becoming dead. Having my secondary hand able to use my knife is then a serious requirement.

The delica is a great knife, but slightly smaller. I am nowhere near as proficient with a Spyderco Delica as I am with a Spyderco Endura, and I know other people who are the opposite. Once size will suit you best for opening and closing, and it is that size you should carry.

Also, the Spyderco "hole" is big enough that I can open the knife properly even while wearing winter sport gloves. Try doing that with a little "post" opener and you're realize the value of the Spyderco.

CRKT M16-11F its the carbon fibre model very light weight but almost to light also got the serrated edge but now I wish I would of just gotten the straight edge makes it much easier to sharpen. But other than that I have been very happy with it. I also keep my cheapo China brand S&W copy handy I figure I can use it to pry and bang with and if it breaks Im only out $4.

Spyderco Delica with the 50/50 blade.

I've had one for almost 10 years and for everyday use and carry it's my favorite.
Not too big, not too small -  just right for my hands, and it doesn't freak people out when I use it.

(Well once, I was at a birthday lunch at work and the celebrant needed a blade to open a gift.  I handed her my knife and someone yells out, "Geez, you can kill someone with that thing!")

It's either on me or close to me whenever I leave the house.  I'm actually surprised I haven't lost it by now.

construction.  I'm in management but I still like to get dirty when I can.  I wouldn't buy that knife for what I do, but when I started it was the oldest and the one I liked the least.  I can't stand tanto blades or serrations now.  Everytime I see them I think "there's a knife that doesn't get used".

My Spyderco Standard has been with me for over 12 years. Except for a period of three months during the winter of 94 when I had lost it riding a snowmachine.  I managed to find it in the spring when the snow had melted. That's why I keep the string attached to it. Whenever I go riding I tie the string to my belt so I won't part company with it again. IM me for another very interesting story concerning this blade

Had a spyderco something-or-other, hated the serrations and ground them all off. The locking mechanism started making me really nervous, as I imagined it letting go at the wrong time with my fingers in the way.

Eventually found the Sebenza and can't live without it.  I use it, appreciate the non-serrated edge, the really solid lockup.  The little one is with me all the time, I occasionally carry the big one when I'm roughing it.

I figured one or two good knives will carry me over better than a whole passel of less expensive ones.  Plus, I keep telling myself, I'm a user not a collector!  (Sure... )

Ken Onion Kershaw "Whirlwind".

Keeps a hell of an edge, it's light, tough, and cheap.  I used to carry CRKTs but they would always break something after about a year or so, usually the pocket clip or something minor.

If I lost this one today I would replace it with another one immediately.

+ 1 for the "Whirlwind". I have carried mine everyday for about the last three years and I love it. I also carry a Leatherman "Micra" along with it. In my fanny pack is a Swiss Army "Champ" (For the corkscrew & the saw!).
