The server/directory must be set up to allow directory browsing. If it's not, you can't see a list using a web browser. With an FTP client, you may be able to see the list of files.

How does one set that up? Or is it a priveledge that only the system administrator has? |

Ding ding ding. Directory browsing is set up by the admin to be allowed or not. Typically it cannot be set on a user or directory level. |

Yeah you can do it provided you have your user name and password. Simply type ftp://username:[email protected]. Most sites are set up to then allow ftp access using your browser. It should then take you to your home directory. You will then have to browse to your web directory (usually something like public_html, web, www or html) and you should then be able to see what files are on your site.
