I would consider buying a piece of realty on the border, preferably in Texas, just for the purpose of setting up a real barrier to anyone trespassing upon my land.

Did I mention that Texas is a 'Class 3 friendly' state?

New Mexico and Arizona would be fine destinations, as well.

And to think I talked REALERIC out of buying a ten acre tract that was only five miles from the Mexican border because I thought it too remote!

What was I thinking?

It wouldn't be that much I am sure if we could get a few people to throw in $1,000 we could buy a nice peice, since we aren't after farm land just some dirty old desert.

Do it in Arizona! That border country from Nogalez to the east is really great! And we could have all kinds of shootzenfests down there as well. With what could catch tresspassing, you would never run out of target holders! Hell, you could make a real maze of barriers to funnel your "visitors" into a location where you could have some ..."fun"?

Enough of that. If you really want to do something, contact Ranch Rescue. Those guys need all the help they can get. Lots of VERY BAD stuff going on down there. I used to have fun down there as I had a buddy who worked US. Customs as a Special Agent out of No-Go in the late '80s. Used to hunt quail & deer down there. Would think nothing of just sleeping out in a bag on the ground. Today, you would never go there without an AR & 300+rounds PLUS a side arm.

It's turned to shit. They have RUINED some pristine land down along the border. They really should clear the border 1 klick back & mine the thing.

So what is it that you guys are trhinking of accomplishing?

Detaining people?  Stopping them from coming over?

Or are you just looking to kill someone?

Because it's a lot harder to pull the trigger then you think sometimes.

Seeing those cute kittens makes you not want to do it?

I expect owning land there and trying to stop people would end up being a big pain as soon as rabid liberal groups attacked you and looked for stuff to get you for

And that's a bad idea...why?

Because the reality is that it will become a bunch of red-necks drinking beer acting like tough guys while nothing gets accomplished.

Hows that for starters?

What we always did was set up in a hide, wait for the illegals, capture them, and contact the Border Patrol.  The BP would come out, police them up, and take them in for processing.

We'd give them water and minor medical attention if they really needed it.

What eaxctly do you think can be accomplished by "guarding" 40 acres?

Make them walk around you?

I've done it.  You can accomplish a lot in even a small area.  As long as it is a vantage point for crossing, you'll snag illegals.  It doesn't matter if a few experienced ones slip by - its human nature to take the easiest route.  And that's where you set up.
