What should I bring, my Ruger 10/22 so i could have some meat or my Bushmaster AR15 to blow the little puppies out of the sky?

you could also go with a shotgun. Friend of mine's dad hunted squirrel with a 10 GAUGE

.22 shorts or CBEE's

Nice and quiet. you can shoot several sometimes before they spook. Hit in the shoulder or head you'll knock them off the branch.

I like my Rem 741 for that duty.

I also use my .223 pistol, I handload 40 grain hornet bullets with 6 grains of Blue Dot. A lot quieter than a real load, but a lot louder than the shorts. And you have to make head shots or you blow them apart.

That gets my vote. I used to use an 870 chambered in .410. Doesn't destroy the tree rats and cheap.

Body shots on squirrels are for pussies.  If ya can't get a head shot with the 10/22, you should be more patient.  Throw a limb around on the backside of the tree.  Mr. Tree Rat will hear the commotion and skurry around to your side of the tree for a nice clean head shot. Head shot or no shot.
