Is this to much for an AR15? Seems like it to me but their are people talking about putting fixed 10x power scopes on their ar's. I figure if I keep it at 6x I will be good. Oh yeah I  posted this here because I wanted to.

Scope will weigh more than the rifle

I recently read in SGN that they are using a scope of that power on the Sako TRG-42 in .338 Lapua.

That's more scope than I have on my .50 BMG target rifle, but if it makes you happy that would be OK with me.

I put a 6x24x50 on my Colt 6601. Works great.

You plan on shooting the heads off of matches at 200 yds?

Just kidding.  But that's way more scope than I could ever see needing on an AR.

WAY TOO DAMNED MUCH

I had a 6-24x50mm that was way too much for my 24" AR

I prefer my scope to top out at least in the range of 16-20x.

I'd say it is perfect for an accurate rifle!

If it works for you , use it. I use the 6X24X50s on my sniper rifles but I do have a 3X9X40 on a sendaro. On my 24" Bushy I've got another 3X9. They all work for me so I'll stay with them. What make of scope are you going to use? From what I understand though , there is talk of the human eye only being able to use so much light at any given time. I'd research this and see if you might be spending extra dollers for an objective lens that wouldn't give you anymore advantage over a 50mm or smaller. Just my 2 cents. Take care.
