HELP ME!!!
(Poll coming, chill whilst I add it) |
get the computer now, save $$ and get the ar15 in parts.. lower here, parts kit there, etc
Yes, buy a whore and a digital camera. Then- pooper, pics. |
Buy the AR first and buy the computer part at a time, the AR is not going to change in value much, buying the computer over a few months may save you a few bucks because prices on all computer parts slowly drop, a top of the line CPU today may be two steps down in three months, and only cost you half as much.

Sturmwehr,
The fact that you're posting means your computer is working fine. Besides you could use some more vitamin K. Get out and blast those real zombies. JMO. -YJ |

Buying firearms always comes first. Disasters. Stalinist Politicians. Zombies. They wait for nothing (except brains).
Last time I checked, there were no calls from our govt to ban computers. Get the Ar now, computer later. Good advice was had from peekay. You can buy a lower now for about $100 bucks and put it aside. Then later on you can buy the rest of the parts and build whatever you want. It is very simple to do. Or even better, buy two or three (or more) lowers now for later. Zen "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine" |
Should read: "Sturmwehr WANTS new computer, Sturmwehr
NEEDS new AR-15. See when you break it down, the decision is simple! Needs before wants! |
Computers are stupid. Guns are cool.
Just thinking about buying a new computer will cause it to depreciate by at least 15%. By the time you actually own it, it's worth less than 50% of whatever you paid for it. Within a week, you can get about $25 for it, if you can find someone who has been sleeping for the last four years and has no idea of it's true worth. Within about two months, you have to PAY somebody to take it off your hands. Then the cycle starts all over again. At least that how it seems to me. The AR will hold it's value just about forever. "Vitamin K" huh? That's perfect! |
I'm getting AR related stuff now, and am waiting til winter at the least for an upgrade to my system...they aren't trying to ban computers yet.
Get four stripped receivers and a $500 junk laptop and fix it up.
i vote for..... stop talking in 3rd person.. it's manson like and creepy
oh yeah.... dorks use computers, Aim4Myhead says... buy a gun J |
I'm in the same boat. But I figure I'd rather have another bullet hose than a box. I only get one shot by throwing the box. |
Does a Marlin MD60 and... An old crossman pellet gun count? I'm under 21. No drinky-drink or handgun (legally, anyways...) for me, yet. |
Well, if I'm not reading Special Weapons for Police and Military, it's probably TigerDirect/Newegg/Maximum PC. ...Yes, I am dork. Hear me... boot. |
stuff it in her marpat pooper and post a trap....er... something like that.
So how do you decide whether to go to the gun show or the computer show? |
Damn, I know the feeling. Im getting ready to drop the fat bucks on a new video card this weekend and I would rather be spending it on more AR stuff. But I vowed not to miss the launch of Half Life2, so the computer has to be in prime condition for the release.
Computer dealers don't try to steal every dollar I have. I've went to three gunshows, I'll only go again if I know a dealer that's attending there. Too many assholes wanting waaay too much money for too much worthless shit. |
Why not upgrade what you've got? If you're just wanting something to play DOOM3 just upgrade the video card and you should be fine with just about any CPU put out in the last two years.
I know what you mean though, I just built a new system from the ground up a couple months ago and it ROCKS. So fast compared to my old dually PIII that it's like night and day. But I built it for multimedia editing. I could have just upgraded the graphics and been able to play any game on the street today. BB {fellow nerd} |
Has anyone said, Get both or stuff it in her pooper and post pics.
I'd say the AR15. I don't forsee any computer bans in the near future.
Yup. Go with the rifle. |
Why not upgrade what you've got? I would, but it might actually be more expensive than buying a new PC, also, this is the only usable PC at the moment (and my mother loves to play games on sites like pogo for hours at a time - limiting my zombie and Nazi hunting). I need a new powersupply to handle a larger processor, new HD, new RAM (PC-3200, of course. 512 MB). I'm shooting for a 2.6 Athlon XP, since with all the fans available on the new case I would be getting (the case on this computer is a MINI-TOWER, it's like the impotent penis of computers, worthless and laughable), I would be able to handle overclocking temps and such. If you're just wanting something to play DOOM3 just upgrade the video card and you should be fine with just about any CPU put out in the last two years. Unfortunately, the most my 250watt powersupply can handle is a Radeon 9600 PRO - which I have. Any more power (which I need) must be spent also towards a new powersupply (~400 watt would do). Also, this Athlon 1.8 was nice two years ago, but now? I just need more power. |
I still say buy the computer piece at a time and get the gun now, buy the stuff that isn't going to change much first, case, PSU (get a good one, the cheap ones will ruin your day in the long run), and motherboard first, but the CPU and video card last, that way you will likely be able to get the video card and CPU you want now cheaper in a few months.
My kid brother is big on gaming, he put his current system together originally nearly three years ago, with an AthlonXP1800+, a crap load of memory and a Radeon 8500 video card (which was to of the line at the time). This spring his Motherboard went bad, so I replaced it with a good Asus MB, and he also had me put a new vid card in for him (it was a Geforce something or another about $250 dollars) after that upgrade it was like a whole new machine, the CPU made much less of a difference than I would have thought, but the video card made a huge difference. |
try these depending on your cash on hand you might be able to get both
computer www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=940 ar15/mega lower piece meal it together www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=21&t=153544 |

They won't ban computers will they ? Then it is your duty as an American to buy the AR. C'mon was this a real question? Take care.
Do you have a Fry's Electronics Nearby?
Fry's Electronics If you do, then watch for specials... They sell stuff for prices that are hard to beat, but you've got to wait for the specials on what your after... I had a similar dillema. I built the computer first, but only 'cause I was waiting for Sept 14th. I'd build the Rifle now, if I were you... |
...Like, $120. At most. I have to work 77 hours to afford this PC... A little more for the AR (because if I want an AR, it's going to be a GOOD one. T3 receiver... 16" barrel, nice pict rails... 4-position M4 stock... bayonet lug, ect.) It's no good buying something you want only to have it fall short of what you wanted, it's frustrating. I'm a person that would rather save up for months and buy a VERY NICE thing than spend it early and get some half-assed attempt at what I want. |
It was sort of ment to be a joke... but, ok. Yes, I know it's spelled "delima." |
Umm...no. It's spelled "Dilemma." |
Sturm,
Get the AR15! You KNOW you want it more than the computer. |
Celebrate the expiration of the AWB.
Live in the moment. Get the AR! Then put a cumputer on layaway or peice it together. Do this, Especially if you already have a computer but just want a new one. |
You know, I'm not THAT stupid. I know occasionally I dip into the double-digits... but, really! Yes, I know it is dilemma. |
