Fall and winter are my favorite times of the year.
Problem is, we don't get fall here.  We have spring, summer and really fucking hot summer.
One of these days, northern AZ here we come !!

IT ACTUALLY STARTS COOLING DOWN HERE!!!!

(sorry for yelling)

No hunting here in AZ for me this year, except maybe some bowhunting for deer in December, some 'yote blasting, and I think I'm finally gonna get off my dead (and getting into shape) ass and try some lion hunting-only $15. Quail season is supposed to be OK, we'll see.

I'm going back to the Fatherland-Missouri-for firearms deer season in November.

Somebody call Anheuser-Busch and tell 'em to hire another shift, willya?

Why I like October

by napalm

It cools down enough that my face stops melting off,

yet it's still warm enough that the snowbirds stay in Canada/Minnesota/Wisconsin and don't clog up my roads with their big RVs and old fogey driving skillz.

It only got up to 97 degrees yesterday! Woohoo!
Hmmm, was that haiku?

This is:

Only ninety-seven degrees

Old fogeys still in midwest;

Wooohoo!

I like October because the chicks haven't adjusted their wardrobe. They're out and about in their summer clothes when the weather is just a bit nippley -I mean nippy.

I LOVE the END of October...

Temperature approaches what I consider "just right"  60s during the day.

Halloween is a good holiday.

AND I TURN 18 ON THE 25th--- OOORAH! Getting 2 new (to me) rifles with the payoff from my summer job

Catching the first whiff of one of the neighbors firing up their woodstove ... I've always had to live vicariously because we didn't have one, but all that's going to change ... Just ordered our own woodstove which will be installed in the next week or so ... So I guess from now on fall will mean, splitting and stacking firewood.

Normally 'One month further from JULY' and 'One month closer to MAY' ...

A tad different this year, as I may spend the winter a tad further south...

But in general, if we could skip October thru April in WI, it would be for the better...

I guess I'm not the only one who likes fall...

I was up on the mountain the other day and there was still some snow (8000ft+) from a recent cold front that came through, and lots of grouse moving around. Trees turning colors, crisp air, beautiful blood red sunset fading to shades of pink and purple, then lavander, and me alone on a ridgeline, hiking back after an afternoon hunt, listening to the wind in the dry grass and sage.

Damn fine season. Damn fine.
