Fall and winter are my favorite times of the year.
Problem is, we don't get fall here. We have spring, summer and really fucking hot summer. One of these days, northern AZ here we come !! |
IT ACTUALLY STARTS COOLING DOWN HERE!!!!
(sorry for yelling) No hunting here in AZ for me this year, except maybe some bowhunting for deer in December, some 'yote blasting, and I think I'm finally gonna get off my dead (and getting into shape) ass and try some lion hunting-only $15. Quail season is supposed to be OK, we'll see. I'm going back to the Fatherland-Missouri-for firearms deer season in November. Somebody call Anheuser-Busch and tell 'em to hire another shift, willya? |
Rather than rewriting everything you just said, it will be easier to just +1 you. |
Hunting....crisp Fall air....No bugs!....Baseball playoffs.
Will be on my bow stand in about 2 hrs! |
Great minds think alike....... |

Another month closer to not having to keep beer in the fridge to stay cold!
I hate fall...mainly because that means winter is just around the corner, and I REALLY hate winter...damn it if I don't like it 90 degrees and humid as hell.
I like the fall because that means the weather is going to get cooler, for Halloween, pumpkin carving etc. Daylight gets shorter.
its obvious that SOMEBODY doesn't live in TX.............................. |
Word. |

Weather cool enough to open up the windows and air out the house.
Falling leaves. Football. Baseball playoffs, world series. Rice being harvested. My first batch of chili. |

Why I like October
by napalm It cools down enough that my face stops melting off, yet it's still warm enough that the snowbirds stay in Canada/Minnesota/Wisconsin and don't clog up my roads with their big RVs and old fogey driving skillz. It only got up to 97 degrees yesterday! Woohoo! Hmmm, was that haiku? This is: Only ninety-seven degrees Old fogeys still in midwest; Wooohoo! |
I like October because the chicks haven't adjusted their wardrobe. They're out and about in their summer clothes when the weather is just a bit
Lots of the above items
+Freshly Squeezed Apple Cider +The Northern Lights |
I LOVE the END of October...
Temperature approaches what I consider "just right" 60s during the day. Halloween is a good holiday. AND I TURN 18 ON THE 25th--- OOORAH! Getting 2 new (to me) rifles with the payoff from my summer job |
nice. What guns are you going to get?? |
October?
It's the first morning that you head out an are glad that you have a jacket. RIOTs of colorin the leaves. Old Time Days at Blain. Small game season The air smells clean for a change. Woodsmoke. My birthday. I met the Princess in October. Ops |

Catching the first whiff of one of the neighbors firing up their woodstove ... I've always had to live vicariously because we didn't have one, but all that's going to change ... Just ordered our own woodstove which will be installed in the next week or so ... So I guess from now on fall will mean, splitting and stacking firewood.
Oct 1=Bow season
3rd Sat in Oct=Muzzleloading season Long shadows A break from the damn hot weather. |
Normally 'One month further from JULY' and 'One month closer to MAY' ... A tad different this year, as I may spend the winter a tad further south... But in general, if we could skip October thru April in WI, it would be for the better... |
Oct. 1 is our 22yr anniversary!
Oct. 28 is my wifes 40th birthday! |
I guess I'm not the only one who likes fall...
I was up on the mountain the other day and there was still some snow (8000ft+) from a recent cold front that came through, and lots of grouse moving around. Trees turning colors, crisp air, beautiful blood red sunset fading to shades of pink and purple, then lavander, and me alone on a ridgeline, hiking back after an afternoon hunt, listening to the wind in the dry grass and sage. Damn fine season. Damn fine. |
i'm not a big fan of october. october means midterms and no breaks from school i'm more of a nov. and dec. fan
Towards the end of the month, I can dress up like a girl and everyone just thinks I'm going to a costume party.
W00t! |
Well, when the weather is getting cool, the snuggle factor goes way up
