A KelTec Sub2000?  and how do you like it? I was thinking about getting the 9mm and then getting a 30 round glock mag for it.

I really enjoy my Sub2000.  It has never given me any problems and shoots a consistent minute of beercan.  I am getting a few 30round glock mags for mine.  check out kel-tec owners group at www.ktog.org

What trouble? I have never had a
FTF or FTE with mine. It has fired
over 500 rounds (rapid fire and slow
fire, etc) without a single hiccup.

Do you know of people who have
trouble with the Sub2000 specifically
or are your comments based on
KelTec's pistols?

I think I might just get one, I love the idea of the cheap high cap Glock mags now, and the fact you can fold the gun in half and keep it pretty concealed.

Ok I'm confused.

How is this not a SBR?

Barrel looks <16 inches.

OAL folded is definitely <26 inches.

WTF am I just stupid?

True, but it cannot be fired in the folded position.  Therefore, the fact that it is less than 26" OAL while folded is moot.

From the spec sheet :

Length open                                      29.5"            749 mm
Length closed                                    16"              406 mm
Barrel length                                    16.1"            408 mm

My only ? is how can it be 16" closed when the barrel is 16.1"?!?

The barrel is the longest part when its closed and its a bit more then 16". I measured it when looking for a toolbox.

I rather like mine.  No failures of any kind.  The only problem I've had is when I tried some AWFUL POS aftermarket 30 round mags from Sportsmans Guide and screwed up my mag catch.  Screwed up two of them the same way at the same time .  I called Kel-Tec and they told me to send them both and they would reimburse me for the shipping.  I paid for the shipping (didnt ask for a reimbursement) and got my rifles back much sooner than I expected.  They were completely fixed and have been 100% since then.  I can't compare them to a Storm because I've never shot one, but I think they compare favorably to the Hi-Point carbine.  I would reccomend a Kel-Tec without hesitation.  My understanding is that the 9mm out of a 16" barrel is comparable tp a .357 mag out of a pistol.  They arent as accurate as my AR, but definatly useable as a plinker inside of 150 yards or so.

Nope:

-- 9mm: Glock 17, Glock 19, S&W 59, Beretta 92, SIG 226

-- .40 S&W: Glock 22, S&W 4006, Beretta 96, SIG 229

I can only speak to G17/19, however.

That'll work. I did the same thing
thinking that I was going to get a
G19 (ended up getting a CZ75B
).

My Sub2K will eat any 9mm I throw
at it too. This is a good thing since
I bought a case of S&B that my CZ
will not extract.

Good luck - let me know if you have
anymore questions about it.

This is another rifle that I'd like to get as it's a great deal for the money.  I went to the gunshow this weekend and seen quite a few of them in the $250 range, their ability to fold into such a compact space is something that I really like.  One step up from my .22lr backpack plinkers and cheap to shoot as well ammo wise and I already have the Glock mags.  I wouldn't buy a Kel Tec pistol but have yet to hear anyone not liking the Carbine, that is someone that actually owns one!

My wife and I both have Kel-Tec pistols and have never had any problems with them.

Maybe they were just comments they overheard from the "Gun Show Seals" or he "Gun Show Jerky Guys" and not based on actual experience?

I have the .223 version,  awesome little rifle that has yet to give me the slightest problems, even with Wolf ammo.   If I were to be really nitpicky I'd have to say I don't like the dayglo orange front sight,  but that's about it.

I have two of the older carbines - the Sub 9.  Mine have machined aluminum receivers instead of the polymer ones.

Mine are great.  Very accurate.  Very reliable.

My pistols are just fine, too.  I carry a P40 every day and it is reliable and accurate as well.

KelTec stopped making the P40 because the average owner could not operate it.  It has a high power to weight ratio.  Long, fairly heavy trigger pull.  Many people were limp wristing the pistol.

There certainly were issues with the early pistols.  KelTec customer service has been second to none.  They would make the guns right if they had problems.

I have two, one is for sale.  I love mine, takes glock full capacity mags in .40 S&W.  I have 3 29rd mags and it runs great.  It is a plinker for me, but I would not hesitate to use it in an emergency.  It reside in my truck behind the seat, with 100 rounds or so...never a problem.
On a side note just got 30 glock mags from CDNN, leo only what a dream come true, really!

I have been pleased with the glock mag version that I have. Not the greatest engineering masterpiece ever devised, but still a great little gun that is cheap and fun to shoot.

I was wondering if anyone has ever put some sort of a pad on the metal stock tube.... I was thinking of something like what the ACE AR15 stocks have, but just cut on the bottom to allow for the charging handle to work. Is this an idea worth considering?
