OK So I dumped the Ruger P85 and I want to pick up a different 9mm pistol for cheap practice ammo.Plus I can use it later for justification of a 9mm upper .
I have had a Glock 17 before , and quite frankly I was super pissed when the "Most bad assed never fail pistol in the world." had the front site fly off into the nether world never to be seen again a few weeks after getting it . I have shot a buddys Sig 229 , but I think I am more interested in a 226. If I go Glock it would probably be a 19. If I go Sig I would go for a 226 . Either one would be one of the police trade in's you can find in SGN . So if you had a choice , Which would it be?(Can't get both yet , so lets go with which first .) |
Get both.
I'd be happy with either one, but if I could have only one, I'd get the Glock. |
I'd take a Sig over a Glock any day, but I'd take an HK over either any day.
If I had to have a DA auto it would be a Sig.
Lucckily I am allowed to carry a handgun that has the same trigger pull with each shot. |
The Sig has a better trigger
The Glock is lighter Cant go wrong with either which is why I own both. The Sig gets more range time. I keep the G17 with a M6 in my nightstand and a Glock 30 in my Jeep. |
If the choice was between the Glock 19 and the Sig 228, the decision wouldn't be so easy.
Hmmmm, a Ford or a Mercedes..........I'll take SIG, not even close !!
But you forgot to include HK ! |
Toss up leaning towards the SIG. I miss the P228 I got rid of to get my HK USPC 40. I had orgianlly wanted a P229 but they werent in stock. I shoot glocks really well ,I like the G22 G23 G27 option and they fit my hands perfectly excpet for the full size with the little cut out ion the front. I saw a number of various models Ka boom when I worked at a range for 4 months and am trying to do some research on supported Vs unsupported chambers adn oither factor before I get one.

Do you know what HK stands for???
High Kost. Stick with Glocks and Sigs. |
P-220..I know you're looking at a 9mm, but I prefer a .45. they do shoot well, I also have a older (series I) kimber custom classic so, I have a pretty good handle on 1911's,(also had SA Inc. milspec for a short while) still, if given a choice, I'd take the P-220 if I needed something I had to depend on....
I prefer Glocks over Sigs, but I would take an HK over both...
Yes, HKs are more expensive than average, but have you priced a Sig or nice 1911 lately? |
You will never, ever regret buying a SIG. You will always regret selling them. Very accurate, very comfortable. I'd pick them over Glocks every time.
I love my 226.
It was a trade in and I have never had any problems with it. Plus, I just got 5 new LE mags for it for 17 bucks a pop. I'm happy. |
No more expensive than SIGs or Kimbers. I paid $650 for my NIB .45 compact in 2001 and $595+tax for my NIB .45 fullsize in 1997. My SIG 226 was $650 and the Kimber I'm looking at is between $800-$1200 depending who you talk to. Besides, I was always told you get what you pay for. |
You forgot the smiley I hope? The Sig is a lot more expensive but I think it is the better gun. If you want to save money and still get a great gun go with the glock. |
well, the only glock I can recall shooting is my buddies G21 (.45) I prefer my HK USP45F over the 21 and now, as of today (took it out for the first time), I'm liking my "new" P220 just as much as the HK. The sig shot very well, I'm impressed and find that what everyone has been saying is true
I've got .45 coverd with a 1911 . I don't care for the 92 , it just doesn't fit me right . I don't want to pick up another caliber right now , and I don't care for H&K either . It doesn't feel right .
well, based upon my P220 experince, I would look into the Sig 226 .....or maybe check out an SA XD
Get a SIG only if you won't cry like a girl when you drop it.
I like low bore axis handguns. The SIG doesn't fit my taste because of it. Personally I shoot the best with a compact baby eagle, followed by a USP compact, then the glock19. I could barley hold a group at 15 yards with the sig, so try before you buy.
I have both now , since I'm not a fan of external safeties .
The Sig's 12 lb DA trigger makes it harder to have an accidental discharge that can happen with a Glock and a thumb break holster . Some say the Sig's DA first shot is too heavy, but I think if your in a stressful situation your not even going to notice the DA , and if you have even a split second to think you can thumb the hammer to SA . That being said , I'm better with the Sig by a tiny margin so its my carry . |
would go all around w/ a sig
glock is good for plnking, roughing up, tearing up, "loosing", and its cheaper |
Cover all your bases buy one of each. If you can't afford it I'd get a Sig. Never ever never had a malfunction with my 226 or 228 both have about 10,000 and 6,000 rounds through them.

Glock
My experience. No flame intended. I've carried an issued Sig P226 for about 17 years. I hated that firearm. I was just issued a Glock 19. I love it. I carry two G17 mags as back-up and have a plus 2 on the mag in the G19. As a joke, I got a G18, 31 round mag and put it in my issue G19. My chief thought I was nuts. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I even bought a Glock 26 for back-up and off duty. Try both if you can. Get what you like. For me it's Glock all the way. Colt_SBR |

Full-size Sig.
I don't like the standard Glock trigger pull or the grip - G21. The 226 SA-pull feels great, and the pistol sinks into my hand. Personal preference. The 226 is second only to the 1911 in feel. IMO. I do like the compact Glocks, particurally the G26. You will eventually buy both. |
I just ordered a SIG P239; a gift from my boss. I voted for SIG, but I'll check back in a month once I receive it. NYS laws su^k...

I got a glock 19 in a trade once and liked the way it shot very much. But, .... I personally never felt comfortable with the way the trigger worked. I always felt like it could accidentally get pulled creating an accidental discharge. Or maybe a better way of putting it, is that I felt like I am just clumsy enouph by nature that I would accidentally touch the trigger in some way to make it fire. And there is evidence to back that feeling up. I have heard that many police depts don't use the glock because a few officers nationwide have shot themselves because the trigger caught on something when they were trying to holster it. (shrug) I have had probably 15 sigs in my day. And I prefer them. Nice double action trigger I feel very sure will not get pulled accidentally. And no safety to fool with when I need to fire. Just pull the piece and shoot. Rugged and dependable, and simple to use. I think it is the supreme example of what a combat pistol should be. I even like the look and feel of the Sig over a Glock. I think our armed forces should have gone to it. But to each there own. Go with what works and feels better to you. Zen "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine" |

GLOCK!!!
Seriously, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Every couple of weeks my buddy and I run a little drill where he shoots my G19 or G17 (which ever I have with me) and I shoot his P228. We see who is more accurate with the others gun and I enjoy shoot the Sig but I'm more accurate and comfortable with my Glocks. I can shoot his Sig very well but he's all over the place with my Glocks. Whatever you decide to buy, practice, practice, practice |
I much prefer the trigger on the SiG to the Glock.
Get a SiG 229 in .357. It's the only way to be sure. |
Can't go wrong with a SIG, but let me also suggest the Springfield XD as a low cost option. I'm a big time Glunk hater, but I really like the XD. |

Sig Sauer - no" tupperware" in my holster!
Seriously, I have owned them all, and in my experience the reason Sigs are so great is because they are right when they come here, no mods or tweaking nescessary. I just don't care for the Glock trigger system, and I also don't like the grip angles. They ALWAYS point high to me. I have an early W. German marked P220 & a compact P239 9mm, love them both. Now that the ban is gone and mag pricesare coming down, a 226 is next handgun purchase for me. Oh by the way stay away from the SigPros, quality is not on par with the others. You get what you pay for. |
SIG!!!
I own a P239 right now, and after recently shooting a P220 in .45, I think I need to add another handgun to the collection. |
Sig...it's a Non-Issue. I own both a Sig and a Glock. I'd take the Sig over the Glock any day. Both are great guns, but Sig is definitely a step up.
I have owned and shot extensively both of them. I personally prefer the Glock, but for me, it is just a tool...nothing more. The classic DA Sigs like the 226 are much "nicer" guns and if I could only qwn one 9mm, the 226 is most likely what I would have unless I seriously needed the gun for CCW. I would never say don't get the Glock, but I will vote for the 226 first.
SIG feels too blocky in my hand, I prefer the feel of the Glock. You won't find a more niclely finished autopistol than the SIG though.
My first gun -- ever -- was a Glock 19. I sold it a few months ago and got a SIG 228 .. Never looked back. Want more info IM me.
